so I just got an rsst and have been trying my luck at coil building. My first coil was 28g kanthal with an ekowool wick. That ekowool wouldn't wick to save it's life. I just built a micro coil with a cotton wick. It's about a 7/8 wrap. Here's the thing, it's coming out to 2.8 ohms! Way too high to use on my mech. What am I doing wrong?

What are you using to test the ohms? (your mod or a multimeter?)

Can you add any more photos of different angles? Is your coil burning hot from the center first? Are any of the leads burning red?

I'm using my vamo to check. Coil burns evenly from the center and the leads do not glow. I can't add more pics right this second. I used a qtip to build the coil. It's 2.5 mm in diameter. Just rebuilt some protank heads using a piece of coat hanger that if I had to guess was about 1.8 mm. with a 7 wrap they were 1.6 ohms. I think I'm going to try to rebuild the rsst with the coat hanger. It's gonna be a pain to feed the cotton through it, but i think it will work.

I'm no geni expert, but I do know about coils and I can tell from your pic that the coil is too tight on your wick. See at the top of the coil how the wick is burnt and black, and at the bottom of the coil the wick looks puffed out and juicy? The coil being so tight on the wick is causing a choke point and juice isn't able to flow through the coil in the wick. You want the wick to be able to "breath" so to speak. Not loose, but not too tight. As far as the ohms being off, I can say the Vamo isn't known for being the most accurate of measuring devices, but that does seem way off. I'm not sure about 2.5mm I.D. what the ohms on a 7/8 wrap should be, but 5 or 6 wraps gives me about .7~.9 with a 1/16 drill bit (about half that size I.D.). Hope this helps :)
