I just recently did a dry burn with my Vision (Stardust?) 2.0 clearomizer. After adding juice, and beginning vaping again, I seem to have this gross taste along with the vapor. I've been trying to puff on it to see if it will go away, but the taste is pretty horrid.

Did I possibly dry burn it too much and burn it out? Or could there be something else is the problem? The vapor being produced is as normal, it is just the taste is much worse than it was before. Now that I have that taste in my mouth, it's hard to tell if it is still being produced.

Just wondering if dry burning can do this, or if I will need to replace the clearomizer in total?

Thanks,
Tyler

Well in my opinion it all depends on how long you dry burnt it for but the taste should eventually go away. I never was a fan of dry burning on a silica wick (which is what you have) If the taste doesnt go away after a tank or so try cleaning the whole thing with vodka and hot water. If that doesnt work change the head, this will def get the taste out.

I think what may have happened is when you did the dry burn you caked on some juice to your wick and its still there, but all burned up and gross. There are some ways to clear the old juice off the wick but I am more familiar with reg atomizers so I am not sure the exact process for your stardust. Shouldnt be to difficult though.

That sounds about right! I would use vodka and hot water on a reg 306 or 510 atomizer so looks like that will work. If you pull it apart you will see a dark spot on the wick at the coil, you just burned the juice there and it needs to come off to get the taste out. I also would not recommend doing a dry burn on a silica wick. Good luck!

Thank you for the responses. I was under the impression that tons of people do the dry burn with these clearomizers, but I could be wrong! Definitely will have to try the vodka and hot water thing and hopefully this will get the job done. Thanks everyone! I am also looking into suggestions for stepping away from these Vision stardust clearomizers.

How I clean them is break it all down, seperate the mouthpiece from the plastic tube then the bottom piece. After that take the head off the bottom stem and soak all of this in vodka. While in the vodka shake to try to aggetate the parts. After this run all parts under hot water. Dry all the parts with a towel and I use toilet paper to get into the hard to reach parts just be careful it doesnt leave pieces behind. Make sure the wick is dry before assembling the stardust, after its put together fill it up and vape. If this is the stardust that is a throw away then just take the mouthpiece off and fill with vodka and skake it while closing the open hole with your finger. Do this a few times then rinse it out with hot water a few times and then dry over night. Also a fan works really well for drying the parts and the wick quickly.

A lot of people do dry burn to dry atomizers and for getting a new coil set right on a genesis style atomizers but for stardusts and novas I never saw a huge reason to, unless i was checking a coil I rebuilt but I would only burn it for a few intermitent seconds. I loved the vivi nova over the stardust but if your looking to get away from those style atomizers regular old atomizers are awesome like a low resistence boge works great the only downfall is you have to fill it more often than something with a tank. I personally use genesis style atomizers (ihybrid and zenesis) anymore but they are finiky and expensive but when they are working they are hands down the best vaping experience IMO
also Beacon is right a boge carto in a tank works extremely well too, this whole ting with atomizers IMO is all personal preference

Also, have you switched to a new liquid lately? sometimes liquids need to be steeped. Even liquids you're famliar with vary between batches. Shake them well before-hand, remove the cap and nipple from the bottle and let them sit for a few days - a week or two, replace nipple and cap, shake well and reuse in a clean clearo. This should all help you enjoy your flavors more.

May not want to leave the cap open for a week. Nicotine oxidizes when in contact with air. While this would only be the top layer, shake it up, new layer is going to oxidize. Most go for 1, 2 days tops and this is only to allow the alcohol in flavorings to evaporate.

As for dry burns, you want to dry burn and then give a really good rinse (or soak in vodka). Dry burning will turn any of the gunk into a solid which then flakes off pretty easily.

I tend to dry burn without any wick in place. I know it can be done with silica, but just seems like it'd burn and flake the old liquid onto and into the silica, leaving a permanent flavor.
