Hello All- I am a smoker of 17 yrs. The last couple of years my wife and I have been rolling our own cigarettes at about .75/pack. Recently, I stumbled across the Kanger Evod e-cigarette reviews. I have tried to do some research but haven't been able to understand the concept completely. I have had a couple of disposable e-cigarettes in the best but am interested in something more long term. There seems to be many accessories/variations with the Kanger Evod. My question is what will it cost to use the Kanger Evod. I understand that the question depends on many variations. But I am trying to get a simplified ball park figure. I currently smoke about 1.5 packs per day. I am searching for something along the lines of a Malboro Light. I have no idea how long the "juice" last and how often the accessories with the Kanger Evod need to be replaced. I have no clue if the monetary aspect of it would work for us. So, for example, if I were to know that one refill of the juice would be equivalent to two packs of cigarettes and that I would need to replace an accessory every 4-5 days, I would be able to make a better decision. So, I would greatly appreciate any information on the cost and what I would need to get started.

Thanks

It is kinda tricky, sort of an apples to oranges thing. There are so many variables in vaping. The evod is great to start. The coils should last a week or two. But that depends on the eliquid you choose. Some liquid will "gunk" it up faster than others. You will end up with a campfire type of taste. The coils cost about $1.25. There is the eliquid it has a huge range of prices. Some premium eliquid can be as much as $1.00 per ml. You can also find some really good stuff at around $0.50 per ml. I was smoking about 2-3 packs a day, full flavor. My wife smoked a pack a day of reds. I say we go through about 30 ml a week between the two of us. But that number Is probably off. Probably closer to 20-25.
Long story short, vaping has so many choices you can make it as cheap or as expensive as you want. If you find your self vaping a lot, you can get some higher nicotine eliquid. The problem with your situation is you are rolling your own. At $.75 per pack it is more difficult to justify spending the same or a negligible difference with vaping. But vaping tastes better, you will feel better, and the health benefits out weigh smoking by a ton.

It seems that most people who smoked 1.5 packs of Marlboro Lights a day translate to approximately 3-4mL of 18mg e-liquid a day.

So if you buy 4 bottles of e-liquid in 30mL bottles, you'd probably cover your needs. Mt Baker Vapor charges $7.49 for a 30mL bottle, so $30. Knowing that My Baker Vapor does free shipping at $50, you'll spend $50 on whatever else (coils, a replacement EVOD clearomizer, another flavor to try, etc).

So I'd say $50 a month would likely cover it! And part of that will go toward buying at least one tank that is glass, like a Kanger Mini ProTank 2 that's essentially an EVOD with a Pyrex tank. You'll want a glass tank as some plastic tanks (ala EVODs) will crack with some types of e-liquids.

Good luck!!

(and the Kanger EVOD kit is a great way to start!)

if you want to keep the budget low on the device, an inexpensive Ego battery did me well but i didnt like the ce4 tanks. the EVOD tank is nice on a budget. bottom coil system vapes nice and with replaceable coils, it keeps cost down too.
as far as juice goes. Mt baker is pretty cheap and has a good rep. i just placed my first order so i cant personally speak for quality yet. There are many more good juice stores
I found that sticking with the tobacco flavors made the transition easy for me. the RY4 type flavor in a 24 mg was satisfying coming off 15-20 marlboro lights/day. Thats personal preference. your taste may vary of course.
You can probably get by with 1 tank/battery each if you were on a budget but I recommend you double that to keep your vaping on a roll in case of technical difficulties. Not to mention you can charge one and use one at the same time.
I found the best deals online. shop around.you shouldnt have to spend any more than 100 bucks on 4 batteries 4 evod tanks and 2 chargers.
Stay prepared! local vape shops are higher priced than online. So you want to stay on top of your needs so you dont find yourself out of juice.
Good Luck and congrats on taking your health back

I re,re,re read your post so I will try to throw some more answers in. The disposable "cig-a-likes" are generally only good for one thing, to bring you here to learn about all the rest of it. They never curbed my addiction to cigarettes. I vaped an evod for a few hours and knew that was it. I tried to smoke a cigarette and immediately threw it down. I actually had a full pack in my truck for a few weeks that went untouched... just to give you an idea of how effective they are.
The evod is the tank that holds the juice, and the coil. The coil is like a miniature light bulb with a piece of string in It that wicks the juice to the heating element. Needless to say you will need a power source also. The eGo or cylinder type battery is a good cheap start there. If you want more options, a MVP is an excellent choice, but cost more.
The ballpark number I would try to give you would initially be about $40.00 for two batterys, two evods, and a charger and replacement coils. After that it is just juice and coils. So figure about $.50-$1.00 a day. That said you can probably go more thrifty if you choose. I choose to vape the better juices, and I replace my coils when I get a hint of them going bad. I also have a bunch that I have accumulated, and can rebuild them for pennies.
I hope this helps, there is a ridiculous amount of information here on ECF. There is also a ridiculous amount of people here willing to help you with your questions.
Good luck

Wow... I am astounded by the replies from this forum. Its great to feel welcomed. I do have a couple questions. First,I guess I should get two of the Kanger Evod starter kits which would include one for me and one for my wife. Secondly, I should buy a 30ml bottle of juice. I think each starter kit comes with 5 replaceable coils so it seems that that should last a month. Am I missing anything else to last for the first month? How long do the batteries last? Again, thanks for all the input.

The typical starter kits come with 650mAh batteries. They'll last a half day on a full charge. I'd recommend 1000mAh batteries which should last all day on a charge. They are rated for 300 cycles of charge, but don't always last that long. Figure 6 months per battery. So if each of you rotate through 2 batteries daily, they should last a year. You always want a backup, and that backup should always be charged or charging.

You'll probably want to buy a few smaller bottles, or even a sampler kit so you can find which flavors you enjoy. Buying a random 30mL bottle may end up a 30mL bottle of liquid you don't like. Even if it adds a couple bucks, buying two 15mL bottles is better than one 30mL, at least at the start. Might also want to buy one bottle of 24mg/mL nicotine concentration in case you're really craving nicotine in those first few days/weeks. You can always step yourself down.

If you're a "roll-your-own" kinda couple, you might quickly find yourself DIY liquid (for pennies a mL) and rebuilding your own EVOD atmoizers (again, for pennies).

Batterys will last an hour per 100 mah. So say it is a 650Mah battery it should last you 6.5 hours. 1100Mah would be about 11 hours.
To start I would say get 15ml of juice. Or even better get a sampler pack to see what you like. Your tastes will change as your tastebuds heal. Find out what you like, I smoked menthol for 20 years. I bought a menthol juice, I finished off about 6ml of it and it is sitting with all the rest of the juices I thought I would love... but didn't. I can't stress how important it is to get a spare battery. I thought I would be fine but it didn't charge completely one day and I found myself fighting it all day. It was horrible. What would your budget look like for this? Everyone's different, if you can justify a little extra money I would recommend a different route than the bare minimum.
I can say that the evods should last more than a year if you are careful about what you put in them, some juice can crack them. The coils can last you a long time, some people go over a month. My favorite juice won't let me do that though... I see it as a small price to pay to be happy though.

Thanks again for the replies. I just purchased the Kanger eVod 650mAh BC Clearomizer Starter Kit. Along with the kit, I purchased 15ml RY4 E Juice Baker Vapor and 15 ml USA Blend Tobacco E Juice Baker Vapor. My wife and I will try it and see if this is something we will start doing. If so, I plan on purchasing another starter kit for her. I purchased the starter kit from evcigarettes.com and the juice from Mt Baker Vapor. I've seen quite a few people purchasing the kit from vapedojo and I tried as well but they were sold out except for the yellow kit. If we choose to go with the e-cigarette I am sure that I will be seeking information on how to keep the cost down ie. rebuilding EVOD atmoizers .

We all start small.. Then find what we like. Wether that be egos or something like the itaste vv. It's all what you want. Of your wanting a cigarette like ecig then I would suggest the Volt. It's great and you can find a kit with a PCC. (Personal charging case)
But if you would like something like a ego. Start with a ego. If you find you want more. Jump up to a ego twist or a vision spinner both offer variable voltage. From there you'll find your sweet spot on voltage. The. To a itaste vv. Which will give you a taste into variable wattage. It's all about what you prefer.
Cheers.

I highly reccomend the itaste vv3 you can get it cheap at www.desertvapes.com use ur cell phone charger or buy one there.
You can pretty much use whatever tank you want to. You definately want a variable wattage. This particular battery u can still use while its charging and in the car via phone charger.

I reccomend cartomizers instead of clearomizers because they are cheap, easy to fill, you dont have to wash them prior to use to get checical tastes and oils out. They are disposable and there is nothing to rebuild. Also reccomend desertvapes for them.

I have a ton of ego batteries, vision spinner, esmart, ego upgrade. Yes alot of wasted money.

Since buying the itaste vv3 i cant use those any more.
I buy my premade juices from High Desert Vapes - Your Vapor Haven

Note the desertvapes and highdesertvapes are two different companies.
Both are very good vendors, fast delivery, quick responses on email.
Desertvapes answers the phone when youcall!

If you dont like the idea of cartomizers, which i highly highly reccomend you pick up some boges, if nothing else they make taste testing new juices a breeze! But the best clearomizer i have found is the iclear 16.

If i had it to all over again this is what i would buy along wi the mvp2 and smoke pyrex dctanks and ibtanks.
I do have some iclear16 but never use them since i went to cartotanks.
