Hi,
I have a new Russian 91% v2 with the screw out 510 connector. My question is how to clean it and what to use? Do I literally take the entire thing apart screws and all and soak in....whatever? Or just certain parts of it. I am concerned about messing it up. Detailed instructions would be appreciated.

Also, since I'm new to building, I noticed that the organic cotton I bought at CVS contains hydrogen peroxide. Does anyone know of a store I can buy organic cotton with nothing in it? I live in Manhattan BTW.

Any other building tips and tricks would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I will be in the same boat next week as I just ordered a kayfun, it looks like a good soak in a little Dawn and hot water along with a toothbrush should work just fine. Im new to building and have only used cellucotton(rayon) but it works a lot better than the wicks they used in the stock Kanger coil heads. Most folks state that they boil the cotton before using, I havent done that with the cellucotton. Happy vaping!

    Welcome to ECF, bx...

Disassemble it completely. The reason you want to do that is to insure all contaminates and oils are removed... and more importantly, that when reassembled, everything is tightened properly - in particular, the air tube/screw that holds the positive block in place.
Use pliers to hold the block true in the base while you tighten the screw. Don't crush the insulator... but if you don't tighten it enough, the block can turn when you fit the atty to your PV.

Here is a link to a Kebo/UTC R91% exploded drawing, and parts description.

Wash everything in warm soapy water, Oxyclean... what ever you have handy.

There are 3 gazillion R91% builds on the interweb... I'm sure you can find one. ;-) Rule #1. Don't fit the wick too tight in the coil - a slight drag is sufficient. Rule #2. See rule #1.

I soaked mine in some Palmolive soap and hot water for about 15 minutes, took a toothbrush and scrubbed. I repeated this and then rinsed. Set out on a paper towel and it worked well on my svoemesto kayfun and a black edition v3 kayfun. For cotton I also used the cvs organic and although my buddy who got me to quit smoking and start vaping told me I didn't have to boil it....I did boil it. I bought 2 gallons of distilled water and used one of them to fill up a large pot, brought to a boil (did not add the cotton just yet). Took the cotton and placed in a strainer and poured some distilled water/ squeezed it out and then added it to the boiling distilled water for about 20 minutes. Removed and rinsed with distilled water in the strainer. Took forever to squeeze out most of the water and all was probably excessive, but made me feel good :) . Then I fluffed them back up by gently playing with them and let them air dry for a day. Enough cotton to last a LONG time now.

Nothing meant to scare you or make it seem so difficult, but doesn't hurt to spend some of your spare time viewing YouTube videos about building a kayfun, micro coils, and reading a lot of threads on this forum. All together it has given me a hobby that keeps me from starting my bad habit that I know I have finally kicked to the curb.

Is the positive block the platform where the coil is held with the 2 screws? Seems a little intimidating but I'll give it a go.

Thanks for the info. I'll stay away from mechanical mods for a while and stick to my regulated mods while I learn to build. Did you completely disassemble your kayfun down to the last part before you soaked and cleaned too? I don't mean to sound hard headed (even though I am) but I'm just looking for a short cut to simplify the cleaning.

I may have posted wrong out of confusion, is your Kayfun brand new or are you wanting to know simply how to clean it after being used?

It's a Kebo Russian 91% in stainless. Brand farging new. Soaking now for couple of hours while I went to Costco. Having a few drinks now and will scrub and blow dry and build and go to a vaporium in the Villiage and "floss", assuming it works. LOL. If not perhaps they can help guide me to build a coil that works.
