Hello all. I have been stalking this forum for about a month but this is my first post. Not smoking and loving the vape. 8^) Instead of buying a bunch of cheaper mods I jumped right in and got a Provari. Been using it with a kayfun clone and its been great. I wanted to check out some different dripping mods and sorta went for the lazy mans dripper and got the Reo Grand in the mail today. Built my coil (1.2 ohms) and cotton wrap on the RM2 ( setup is exactly same on the Provari w/ kayfun) and its producing decent vapor but the taste is not there. Whenever I try the Provari setup its just has a lot more taste.

I thought the Reo was gonna give me substantial more flavor so I'm hoping its just me not doing something correct. So please give me your thoughts? THANKS!

Head on over to the REO forum with pictures of your build and you'll get lots of help. A few things right off the bat. Less is more with the cotton on the RM2 (very small tails on either side of the coil) . Have your coil positioned right up to the edge of the deck without touching the cap. And down low on the deck too. Hope to see you in the REO forum where there's lots of folks who can help!

Edit, on my phone so I can't see how many posts you have. If you have less than five, I'll send folks over here.

Thanks so much but as this is just my first post I have to wait before I can post over there. I'm ok at building micro-coils and I am not using that much cotton. Any other thoughts? I will add a picture here and see if that helps.

I have to go much lower in resistance on my Reo than I would a regulated mod, like your Provari.
I used to use 2ohm coils at 5volts on a regulated device
I now use .8ohm coils on the non regulated Grand which starts out around 3.9 volts and slowly drops from there.
I can tell when my batts need to be replaced and they are usually around 3.6-3.7
I vape about 12 ml a day and go through 2 batteries in a day.
I use 27g Rene41 wire micro coils and cotton wicks.
I run my coil as close to the airhole as possible without touching metal and have it centered on the air hole.
hope this helps,
Buddy

Fresh IMR18650 3.7v right from the charger. Also using 28gauge for my coil (thats all I have purchased). You guys are great and so quick to reply. Thanks for the help and hopefully with your help we can get this fixed! I'm loving the look and size of the Reo Grand and hope I can get it setup to become a Provari killer. 8^)

First impression - that coil is too close to the posts - pull it out to the edge, as close as you can without touching the edge.

The RM2 is a tiny little RDA capable of anything from smooth vaping to first degree throat ripping and everything in-between.

Your coil is too far from the side airhole from what I can see.

Try to get the coil as close and centered to the airhole as possible WITHOUT touching the cap to cause a short that will collapse your spring...

Raise the coil for more throat hit, and lower it for less. You'll be surprised at how huge of a difference the tiniest of variations of coil position can have regarding vape.

Don't be so worried about longer legs, micro-coils eliminate them from being hot legs.

Lemme look around and see if I can't find a picture as an example.. I'd take one myself but my camera's been busted for forever.

Adjusting your coil up and down also will give you a difference in vapor and flavor.

You should be able to visit the REO Forum and read some of the threads. They will give you some needed help.

Soon as you can start a post there and watch all the replies!!

Yes, we grab new Reonauts and welcome them to Reoville!

Here are two quick screenshots I grabbed off of google to give you an idea:

You only need to use enough cotton to barely touch the deck when saturated. Because you can squonk and apply fresh e-liquid, you do not need wick to store juice or actually wick juice... rather just enough to hold on to enough juice inside the coil to vape 2-4 puffs between squonks.

Make sure the juice hole is free and clear to drain.

Most people like to drill there air holes out larger. I have mine drilled to 1/16th, as I found the standard sized hole way to tight a draw. An airflow control for the RM2 will be available very soon.

How does this look? I used 6 wraps this time and positioned it much closer to the wall and to the well.
Taste is better but cannot say it really beats out the Provari with Kayfun (clone). Any other thoughts?

Your confusing the "juice hole" with the "air hole" me thinks.

When you screw the RM2 cap on, the airhole should line up pretty much dead center between the posts. That's where you want your coil, not centered over the juice hole to the left... the air hole in cap.
