Ok I was about to stop for awhile as I'm about to go to dinner with my wife but I decided to give it another go. I lowered the wraps to about 7 which should be around 1.2 ohms, positioned everything where you guys have recommended. And already things are improving. I will keep looking on here to see if anyone recommends anything else but wanted to say thanks again for your help! Not sure if this will end up being a Provari killer but I think over time I will get better.
** I still would like to hear of owners of both the Reo w/ RM2 and Provari (w/
kayfun) to see what build you like best. **
Yay! Sounds like you're on the right track. It really is a matter of lining everything up. Here's my "flavor" setup at ~1.2/1.3 ohms (PS, I like 28ga kanthal, too):
7 or 8 wraps around 1/16" jig.
Coil is *slightly* lower than air hole
Coil as far away from posts as possible (make sure the legs are equal length)
Cap's airhole MUST be roughly centered to the coil
"Right" amount of cotton (many here say "less is best" with short "tails", but there is such thing as too little, I know, lol)
Oh, and do not be afraid to squonk up the
juice almost to the top of the coil (take off drip tip and watch and practice). This ensures wick saturation, and the excess will drain back down. Unless the
juice is spewing out the air hole, you're not "over-squonking."
Good luck and welcome to Reoville! It's good to have you around! You'll get it. Don't worry about the "Provari killer." Provari and Reo complement each other very well. They're both the best in their class, IMHO!
