Ok I was about to stop for awhile as I'm about to go to dinner with my wife but I decided to give it another go. I lowered the wraps to about 7 which should be around 1.2 ohms, positioned everything where you guys have recommended. And already things are improving. I will keep looking on here to see if anyone recommends anything else but wanted to say thanks again for your help! Not sure if this will end up being a Provari killer but I think over time I will get better.

** I still would like to hear of owners of both the Reo w/ RM2 and Provari (w/ kayfun) to see what build you like best. **

Yay! Sounds like you're on the right track. It really is a matter of lining everything up. Here's my "flavor" setup at ~1.2/1.3 ohms (PS, I like 28ga kanthal, too):

7 or 8 wraps around 1/16" jig.
Coil is *slightly* lower than air hole
Coil as far away from posts as possible (make sure the legs are equal length)
Cap's airhole MUST be roughly centered to the coil
"Right" amount of cotton (many here say "less is best" with short "tails", but there is such thing as too little, I know, lol)

Oh, and do not be afraid to squonk up the juice almost to the top of the coil (take off drip tip and watch and practice). This ensures wick saturation, and the excess will drain back down. Unless the juice is spewing out the air hole, you're not "over-squonking."

Good luck and welcome to Reoville! It's good to have you around! You'll get it. Don't worry about the "Provari killer." Provari and Reo complement each other very well. They're both the best in their class, IMHO!

It should be just as good or even a little better than a Provari and a KFL+ I just got my Reo mini 2.1 yesterday
It took my 4 trys to get it rite
In my Reo I used a smaller diameter coil and less cotton
I centred the coil between the posts so that most of the bottom hole is showing and pushed it down close to the bottom cup
I use Way less cotton wick half what I use in my KFL+in the Reo
I,m @.85 ohms in the RM2 and it works Great
With my KFL+ I,m at 1.8ohms bigger coil more cotton it also works great
I have 2 different set ups What works in the KFL+ does not work in the RM2
Keep trying you will find the sweet spot in the RM2 :)

I did 10 wraps and its now 1.7 ohms. But not noticing a huge differing in flavor. Do you guys think I should expect better flavor with the Reo and RM2 vs. the Provari and Kayfun?

I'm also burning through juice! 8^) Been vaping non stop for the last several hour and replacing cotton with each rebuild (about 4 now). No problems with this but I'm gonna have to switch to my cheaper NicoTicket. Also no problem as that stuff is GREAT. I just wish my bottle of Doodle and Frenilla was ready. I just got it in a few days ago. Perhaps I shall see how Custards Last Stand is in the REO.

AGAIN THANKS EVERYONE.

Don't know if you've gotten sorted out, but pics of your latest coil might help. If you can, shoot a pic through the top without a drip tip on--that'll confirm the airhole position relative to the coil. What wire are you using again? I found with some wires, it took some time for the coil to "break in." Anyways, pics will help in trying to guide you to a better Vape.

I'm heading to bed but can post pics tomorrow. I'm using 28g kanthol and cotton. I have tried many different coil positions so far but current if I have everything together and can look through the airhole and see my coil slightly below it. I'm not getting dry burns or anything like that and can get really good vapor production just lack of flavor compared to my Provari Kayfun setup.

Congrats on your Reo/Rm2! Hope you get it sorted soon, here is a few thoughts, may or may not help, I hope so :)

I have read a few posts where the poster was glad to have a RM2 instead of their previous Kayfun, so I'm scratching my head wondering what the problem may be... if your coil is lined up with air hole, both in the vertical and horizontal plane, and within about 0.080" of the airhole, and the coil is parallel to the edge of the deck (like a tangent to a circle when looking from above), and the coil is uniform as in all the coils are close together and evenly spaced (or no gaps at all), then it should work fine. Really, the RM2 is no different to any other dripper as far as setting up the coil in relation to the air hole, but it has an advantage in only needing a short wick, has a small chamber which is good for flavour, has a ceramic base, and has widely spaced posts for easy coil mounting.

There is another possibility in that the RM2 might be making your juices taste a little different than your Kayfun. Is the RM2 flavour different to the Kayfun (as opposed to lacking in flavour), or too sweet perhaps, or is it just dull in comparison?

Ok guys. I took the Reo to a vape shop nearby (great guys and very helpful). They thought the Reo was setup nicely and producing good taste and think that its just a preference. My Kayfun does have a much tighter draw and its my favorite. Sad but I think I'm just gonna sell my few day old Reo and save for a DNA 30. I know this group will kill me but I guess its just a preference thing. I will post in the classifieds when I have enough posts. 8^)

I don't think sales are allowed outside of classifieds, period.
That being said I am stalking the classifieds for a good priced reo. And you need to also be verified to post in the classifieds, which will take a few days.

Nah, absolutely no hard feelings. I am the first to suggest that anyone curious should at least give a Reo an honest try, which you indeed did. But just because it's not your preference is in no way a knock against you or Reos. You obviously have great taste (IMHO), and agree a DNA30 mod will likely be a great mod for you. My brother has one, and so far has BLOWN him away (he's a Provarinati, so that says a lot about the DNA30 chip). He loves his Russian 91% and RDA's on his Futura DNA30, but he doesn't care for my Reos at all. You sound as if you have similar needs in a device as he. Cheers, and it was nice to meet you on your visit to ReoVille!

Thanks guys. I'm not at my post limit to add in the classifieds yet so was just giving a heads up. I'm bummed that the Reo didn't work out for me as I love the look and how easy it is. I'm not bashing the Reo at all, just don't think it's for me. I truly thank you all for your help.

Your post count is high enough (I think it's 20 posts to get verified? and an ECF member for at least 30 days). You must be verified to gain access to the classies http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/announcements-news/283955-how-become-verified-member.html.

The seller usually gets very close to the price of a new item, which surprises me because you'd think a buyer would just spend $10 or $20 more and get a brand spanker from Rob. Sorry to hear it didn't work out, but you will lose very little and be able to put the money towards the DNA30. At least you gave it a go, and you have another direction to persue.
