Hello everyone, I recently decided to try e cigs after a friend let me puff his. After reading some polls on 2 piece or 3 piece i have chosen to go with this starter kit.

Vapor4Life- Electronic Cigarette: Vapor King Ultimate Auto Starter Kit

My question is, what cartomizers do i buy? and if im shopping around for prices how can i tell if it is compatible??

Also, i am a menthol smoker and I smoke about a pack a day of regular strength cigs (not lights or mediums. What is a good menthol liquid and what strength should i choose.

Lastly, how do i go about cleaning and filling the cartomizers??

Thanks for any help, and hopefully i can finally quit smoking nasty analog cigs. (and smelling like them too :))

Hi Blaze, welcome to the forum!!

Sorry I don't know that ecig type, I use a a Riva/eGo 510 combination. With that I use the Boge Soft Tip cartos and they're very good.

As far as strength goes, I'd say start with a bottle of 24mg, you can always reduce the strength but you can't increase it. I used to smoke about 35 mid strength analogues per day and started on 24mg. Now down to 18mg after 10 months.

Cleaning and filling cartos, I use the methods shown in the videos below:
YouTube - Cleaning a cartomizer by boiling
YouTube - A double demo! The Cartomizer Condom Filling Method, and the Taryn Spin.

Cheers

Edit: In the second video, I don't use the Taryn Spin (for fear of hitting something and breaking it), I just place a tissue over the threaded end and 'wrist flick' the carto. Same as you would a medical thermometer.

Go here and check each of the ones that appeal to you and you can use coupon codes to get discounts. I have heard that the Joye Ego-T is great. I am into Mods now and have passed the e-cig looking types. Coupon Code Master List I hope that this helps you. Good Luck :)

Vapor4Life is KR808D-1 and Vapor4Life sells prefilled and blank cartos. And LiteCigUSA.net has blank Premium KR808D-1 cartomizers (in the comments it says those are soft-cap).

Basically you can use any standard resistance KR808D-1 cartomizers. You should not attempt to use LR or HV cartos - LR ones are for fat battery models that have beefed up electronics in the battery capable of handling the higher power draw, and HV ones are usually higher ohms and meant for high voltage mods.

I recommend you start with some nice soft-cap stuffing type cartos. (Vapor4Life or the ones I listed above or if you find Boge standard resistance KR808D-1 cartos - I think I saw some at nhaler.com). There are also reservoir type cartos that require a syringe to fill (CE2, Clearomizer, Fluxomizer).

Re prefilled cartos - some you can use ar Vapor4Life, Bloog, leCig has Greencig cartos and "D1" cartos that work

You can also put a standard resistance DSE901 atomizer on the KR8 and use carts (or drip tip if you have manual batteries since dripping is not recommended for auto batteries). If you do have auto batteries, be extra careful when filling/refilling cartos that the carto is not going to drip when you put it back on the battery because carto leaks end up right on the hole to the drag sensor of an auto battery.

I'm not advertising here, at least not intentionally as I don't use this site much anymore, but try cigtechs .com. They are in Illinois so shipping to you should be quick, and they carry kr808 stuff. You can even order adapters to try out different cartos. I can't vouch for the juice because I don't like VG, but thats a personal thing, you might love it. There's also cignot .com in Illinois. Can't say I know of any minnesota sellers, but I'd imagine there has to be at least one. I just always try to buy from close to my house because the cheapest shipping is almost always the next day for me.

Wow thanks for all the info and posts. So i shouldnt go with the auto battery ones? I couldnt really care less what it looks like, cigs look stupid anyway. I just want cleaner lungs and to stop reaking like smoke. If anyone has a suggestion of a different e cig im all ears.

Also, another question about the Liquids. I know what they both mean as far as VG and PG goes....and i read PG generally taste better but VG vapes more. My question is, how should i go about handling it? Is one "safer " than the other? Ive read you shouldnt get any on your skin or ingest any. The videos that showed how to fill carto seemed like they paid zero regard to Juice on their hand or on their mouth piece? Am i just being a worry wart? Or should i take more caution?

Thanks again for all the responses....and please keep in mind i am a COMPLETE NEWB so explanations and advice is very much welcomed!

VG is thick and on the sweet side. Will give you more vapor. PG is thinner, gives more throat hit. A common ratio is 70PG/30. vg. They're both safe. It's just personal preference.

It's really not a huge thing to worry about. You were smoking cigarettes, right? You know you don't have an allergy to nicotine.

If you get the V4L, make sure to get the XL batteries. The shorter batteries only last a couple hours. It's a nice kit, if you want a KR808 you'll be very happy with it.

Good luck!

Being a former pack a day smoker of regular strength menthols myself, I have to say that the best menthol I have tried is the menthol from Backwoods Brew. They give you a choice of strength, I found that the light strength is well suited for me. It's not overwhelming menthol like most. I've been vaping since June 2010 and tried many, but this is what satisfies the craving. (Wish I would have found this since the beginning) This liquid is pg/vg mix and they offer it in different strengths, I would suggest 24mg. Hope this helps. Good luck and welcome to the woderful world of vaping.
