Hello everyone,
First my name is Rick ( currently still smoking regular cigs), I want to quit smoking and start vaping. i have not done any research yet on any e-cigs, except for today and landed myself here. From reading around a bit it seems I have landed in the correct place. I really do need help on the whole vaping thing. I want to order I guess a good start kit with everything included in it to start out without having to buy anything else for it. Now, I smoke menthols so maybe a kit that includes EVERYTHING needed to start vaping iimmediately. My goal is to quit smoking analogs completely, even if I have to start off by vaping and smoking at the same time is okbut I just want to quit analogs in the long run. Someone please help.
Yes my grammar and spelling is completelyhorrible so sorry in advanced.
Thanks,
Rick

The 510 seems to be the most popular first personal vaper (pv), but I'm really glad I started with the KR808. It uses a combination cartridge/atomizer which is pre-filled, so it's got a short learning curve. The 510 took me a while to get the hang of, handling atomizers and such.

Good thing you did land here... you can avoid the WAY OVERPAYING for your first kit that most of us go through. There are companies out there that sell one model, rebranded as their own, at a high markup, and tell you it's the best thing since sliced bread. There are other companies that make it more about choice, offering several reasonable starter kits (think $30-45, not $70-100). You should be able to get these with pre-filled menthol cartridges, as well.

I don't want to promote any particular company directly, but look for something in that price range, and companies that sell individual parts for multiple models, as well as starter kits and "e-juice", and you should be in good shape. Those companies are excellent, have great customer service and typically fast turnaround.

Welcome aboard! Also, I found this writeup to be extremely helpful, although it is a bit dated at this point...

Congrats and Welcome!
Probably the best place to start on the forum is Here. "The Wonderful World of Vaping" will definitely help you out.
In the meantime, if you smoke a half a pack or less, then look at getting either a 510 or a KR808D-1. If you smoke more than half a pack, then you'll want to look at either a Riva or eGo battery because they'll last longer between charges. Check out Liberty-Flights for the 510 and Riva/eGo kits. Check out Vapor4Life for the KR808s.

I would suggest getting at least 40-60mls of juice in a couple of different nicotine levels and different flavors. No one here can tell you which flavors are going to taste good to you or which nic levels you should get. You'll have to experiment a little bit on those. We can, however, suggest some places to buy the juice and I'm going to suggest VaporBomb. Lots of variety at a really great price. Oh, you'll also have to experiment with different PG/VG combos. Just remember, more PG = more throat hit and VG = more vapor and less throat hit. VG might also mute the flavor.

HTH! :)

Excellently said, WomanOfHeart... Always count on a woman to state what I was trying to state, only eloquently!

I think mods might be a bit daunting for a beginner, but many go straight to them. Personally, for me, I'm glad I started with something more traditional so I could learn how it works and adapt what I've learned to using big batteries and higher voltages. I just ordered my first mod today...

It may be that you are pulled right to it. I'm of the opinion that one should start with something reasonably priced and find out if vaping is something you can do... Then spend several hundred dollars on the good stuff! It's easy to get wrapped up in all this. Smoking is a habit, vaping is a hobby!

Everyone's experience is different, so I can only tell you what worked for me.

I didn't care how it looked
Wanted something that was going to mimic the smoking (analog) experience
Didn't want to mess around with recharging a lot of batteries
Didn't want to spend a lot in case I hated it

I researched juice before I even ordered a kit in the reviews section and did a search for 'menthol' and 'newport' because that's what I smoked. Got a lot of hits for nhalers nuport and ordered it. Still vaping it.

For the kit, I got the Joye ego from Liberty Flights, cartomizers and drip tips.

That's what I'm still using and I'm completely happy and quit the analogs.

I added a few juices, and tried out different cartos and tanks but that's the kit and juice that got me off analogs.

I am looking at the joye ego kit from liberty flight site,i hope to order it soon, im excited to start vaping.

Great choice!
Now most likely it will taste funky at first, it's different than smoking and your taste buds are in hibernation. So you will have to get used to the difference. When I quit I told myself that I was just switching brands not actually quitting anything, and that seemed to really help me when cravings came. Don't put too much pressure on yourself and visit often for the help you will need. There is a bit of a learning curve and lets face it. It's just plain fun to learn about all the new stuff you want to buy.

i would recommend taking a look at the e-power VS the riva 510. sure you can save about 8.50 w/the 20% off but in the long run the proprietary batts will end up costing more( the 14650 at mad vapes was $6.49). also the epower is a regulated 3.7v unit the ego/riva I'm given to understand is 3.4v don't know if thats regulated or not. the epower also uses a 1050mah batt, the unit i just looked up for the riva is 750 mah tho most are quoted at 650mah. just my.02 and welcome to the party.

That's not a bad choice at all. Excellent battery life.

I'd suggest looking at the juices and don't order all menthol. Even though that's what you've been smoking, you'll learn that it's not exactly the same. Also, order a little that's a little stronger than you think you'll need, and some a little weaker, of the primary (presumably menthol) flavor. If you're happy with the strength you thought you'd need, then you can mix the higher and lower together. It's not uncommon to find that you want something a little higher or lower in nicotine than you think you'll want.

And, you may find you really like something different, like the fruity or sweet tastes. I almost never smoke tobacco flavors any more... they don't really taste like cigarettes anyway!

Hardware wise, you should be set for a couple of months. The atomizers do have a life, but the ones that come with the kit should last you a couple of months at least...

So that bieng said, can someone help me with getting me direct links to everything I need to get to start vaping out the box so to say?
Im lookin at the mega steel t-rex 1000mah start kit from liberty flights. Whatelse do I need to buy along for this kit to get started. Also how many cartriges should I buy with it. I smoke usually 10 cigarettes a day, so I believe I would have to have a couple of cartiges in stock. I just dont want to run out of anything to be safe. Thanks.
