Can somebody please tell me what is the problem with this Christmas gift??? Bought my mom a passthrough from Vapor Station---510 model. I bought her a box of 5 empty cartomizers and a bottle of e-liquid. Thought I had everything she would need to vape for the first time. It won't work!!! We put in a new AAA battery (something I didn't even realize it needed!) and plugged it into the computer. Put plenty of liquid into a cartomizer and connected the two. It is manual, so we pressed the button and tried to get some vapor----but NOTHING happened! Does she need an atomizer as well, or is it a faulty passthrough? I'm visiting my mom right now and we're all so disappointed that this gift doesn't work and she can't even give the e-cigs a try! I am just learning about vaping myself, but use an automatic Smoke 51 battery with pre-filled cartridges. I am not familiar with the passthroughs, except that everyone who posts seems to love them! What can we do to get this up and running as quickly as possible??? Thanks to anyone who responds!

It may be you computer USB doesn't have enough power to supply the carto. Most are rated at 500mAh, and
a PV usually wants 2A rating. You can pick up a USB hub at any computer store, just be sure it's rated for
sufficent power. Vapor Station has very little information on their site regarding the tech specs on your unit
so this is just my best guess.

My mother has a new HP computer, so I would be surprised if the problem was in the connection. I'm wondering if Vapor Station sent me cartridges instead of cartomizers. My understanding was...if I ordered cartomizers, then I wouldn't need an atomizer. The little box of 5 says 'Cartridge 5 pcs.' I have never used an atomizer, and don't even know what one looks like. I personally use the 'Smoke 51' duo---with rechargable automatic batteries and pre-filled cartridges. I particularly wanted to give my mom the passthrough so she wouldn't have to wait for it to charge....and because I couldn't afford to give her two batteries. On the passthrough, there's a compartment just above the usb plug which was empty, but appears to be for a battery. It was the right size for an AAA, but I don't really see why a battery would even be necessary if it is meant to be used plugged into a computer. So what I'm trying to use is just the passthrough, a cartridge/cartomizer(?), and e-liquid. Something is definitely wrong as NO vapor is produced.

Sorry but a standard battery will not work. The PT should have been delivered w/a batt. The battery is charged through the USB and it is the batt that drives the atty or carto. I would not try to run that with a standard duracell.

I checked my Joye made 510 PTs and found that they will fit the IMR type 10440 batts but would not fit the Ultrafire 10440 protected batts. Maybe someone else can check theirs to see if they do. My PT is pretty old, so they may have changed the battery housing to fit protected batteries since mine came out.

A passthrough is basically an e-cig battery housing with a cable for connecting to a USB power supply (either a charger or a computer). It draws power from the USB connection instead of using regular e-cig batts. Good for folks that spend a lot of time vaping in one place. Some PTs have a small battery attached to them which allows them to be used while unplugged.

If what you have doesn't have a normal battery connector, the threaded end, then you did just get cartridges, and need cartomizers (or an atomizer). 510 cartomizers look like a regular cig filter with a threaded metal connector at one end.

I have several PT's and they all require the battery (ICR10440P is what mine are). Regular AAA batteries will NOT work, i know, I tried. And none of mine work when not plugged in to a USB port or a converter in my car cig lighter socket.

PT's are wonderful for what they are intended to do. I use mine continuously to avoid using my batteries, then when I have to be out and about or away from computer, I have plenty of battery charge, just change over to 510 battery and away I go.

I also have a USB battery pack which I can carry in pocket with PT plugged in and cord run up through my shirt and out the neck dangling... but that's probably too much info.

Good luck with the PT... to everyone... they are a wonderful piece of the puzzle and a great thing to have.
