So here's a fun one... or two rather.

Bought an e-LVT (v1) back around October. It's always had issues since week one with randomly shutting itself off. Every once in awhile when it does this, it can't be turned back on until the battery has been removed and reinstalled. Irritating, but not lethal. Recently (read: within the last week or two) it has developed a new problem - when you press the fire button to take a hit and then release the button, it continues firing. Not like a second or two of continuing hiss from hot coils, but like the fire indicator light stays on and it keeps firing for 2-10 seconds. Bad enough that if you don't keep drawing air, it will scorch the coil. Now, it doesn't do it every time, but randomly. It's happened 3-4 times in the last few days.

This is the SO's primary APV, so it sees a lot of use. Running a Sony VTC4, with an Aerotank v2 with 1.8ohm stock v2 coil at around 7w with air flow at max.

What caused this? Is it fixable?

Part 2 of the problem: now my APV is doing it. Got my MVP v2 around the same time. Never had a problem with it until the last few weeks. Now, it's randomly shutting off and continuing to fire just like the LVT but not as often. Couple of shut downs and 2 instances of continued firing in the last week or two.

The MVP is my primary mod. I'm running a Protank 2 with an air flow base, 1.2 ohm stock coil at about 8.5w, air flow maxed.

Is this like Alzheimer's symptoms for APVs? Signs that it's about to die? I find it weird that the two mods were bought with weeks of each other about 5 months ago and started this firing thing within weeks. Didn't think they were going to die this fast though. MVP has an internal battery so I figured I'd get about a year out of it before the battery crapped, but the LVT shouldn't have any problems for awhile.

TL;DR - eLVT and MVP v2 turning themselves off randomly and continue firing coils after releasing fire button. Problems intermittent and random. Problems getting worse. Cause? Solution?

Thanks in advance everybody. Hope we can get this fixed!

Yeah, we keep them turned off when not in use or under watch just in case. They don't turn themselves on thankfully. Just off.

I'm hoping this can be fixed as we would have to revert to eGo batteries if these can't be salvaged. And with our level of vaping we go through 2-4 charges a day on a 900mah eGo. Can't afford new mods right now unfortunately.

Anybody had this problem before? Is there any way to "reset" or reboot the chip that might be causing this? Both mods have taken a fall or two but nothing that should have knocked wires loose or broken internal pieces.

Crap.

Roxy, not that I don't believe you, I'm just holding out hope it's something else. I'm not that skilled with solder or modifying stuff. No way this is something else causing the problem? Could I clean the switches out with alcohol?

What causes them to start sticking? It's just really weird that they are about the same age and started doing this about the same time.

Not 100% sure on him, but I don't like handling my vape with dirty hands. Kinda an ick factor. We don't share tanks, we don't use the same flavors. We have our share of dust (have a dog who sheds).

The only thing I can think of that's been different is the last month or so weather was bad enough that we were using a humidifier 12+ hours a day to stop the lightning storms in the house. But we never managed to get humidity anywhere near normal summer levels. Outside was about 8%, inside we were averaging 25-30% just to stop jolting ourselves. Normal summer/fall here is 60%+.

I have no clue about the first one. But your MVP may be just hitting the cleaning cycle. I don't know why, but when your puff counter hits 999 and then starts over, it fires for ten seconds and shuts off. I thought one of my MVPs was broken and bought a new one before I read that on one of the MVP threads. That MAY be what is happening to you.

I hope I don't dissolve them! That would suck!

And that might be what's happening with MVP. Never checked the counter when it happens. I'll watch it and see this time. Not sure if his has a puff counter or not, I'll check. Might be the same issue, the timing would fit. He uses his a lot more than I do so it would happen more. Just doesn't make sense why mine would have just started doing it instead of from the get go.

I really don't understand why the MVPs do this. I used mine for weeks and it never happened. Suddenly it was happening every day. I thought it was fried and bought another. But when I read about the cleaning cycle online, I realized I hadn't been turning it off to put it in my pocket because I had been home for a few days. Now I just make sure to click it off and on again once in a while, and it's never happened again.
