Help setting up newbie with first vapo kit

I finally found a decent forum dedicated to e-cigs (here) and I'm looking at getting the myself and the GF set up with a good 4-6month supply in case something goes down with a ban. I'd like to order tomorrow if possible.

She was given an inlife unit from a friend, and we only have like 5 cartridges.

I'd like to get a pair of inexpensive but decent quality units for us. Pereferably one that uses cartridges, and some refill liquid. I'd also like a good supply of spare parts just in case.


I've already spent about an hour reading on the forum and the amount of different models/fluids/sellers has my head pounding. Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

The 3 pc system is the one most recommended, and the most popular is the 510. I've found this to be cheapest at Cig Not.com. (I have 3 of them with extra batts and attys just in case) I also just purchased the V4L model which is a 2 pc system. I think this will work best when out and about, but will use the 510 at home. I found quite a lot of good information on this forum, but too much gets confusing. Good luck.

Fraggle, I feel your pain, I lurked around here for a several days trying absorb the masses of info beofre ordering my first kit just a few hours ago, it is overwhelming.

I certainly can't give you tips on what model to buy, but I would be cautious about stocking up 6 months worth of smoking juice before you know if you like it...consider ordering a dozen or so really small samples (with varying tobacco strengths) to start with, find something you like and then go for the bulk buy (thats the route I've taken anyway).

Have you looked at ANY of the dozen or so Noob guide on the site? Those are made specifically for the types that find doing a little research "overwhelming" and written to give you as much info in a short time as possible without info overload. Asking for someone to recommend something is just going to get you 5 pages of different recommendations with a few arguments breaking out in the process, that's where the overload and overwhelming part is started.

510 is a good choice but cignot is out of stock right now. This is what I'd do for 2 people:

...some atomizers - get a 5 pack:

Hardware:
$89.56 (with the 901 carts) for 2 full "kits" plus an extra atty and batt and a 5 batt charger. Cignot would be 70 for 2 kits without the extras.

If you want more spare parts get one or more '5packs' of attys and batts and highly suggest getting the manual mega batts which will extend use about 2x vs. the regular size ones.

Some juice to start. You might want to get your '6 month supply elsewhere' but you'll need some to start:

But since you don't know what flavors you'll like, you might get a 'starter juice' set here:

Another route on hardware would be Nhaler's 'elite kit' which gives you a PCC with the starter kit x 2 of course. It'll be more but the PCC personal charging case allows you to charge the case at home disconnect to go out and get 5 ecig battery charges from it. IOW, good for 5-8 hours depending on use.

Right on Kent. I'm happy so far with the 510 with only a cart mod. Being an engineer I just have to post "exactly" what I recommend in the "most concise way" I can. One thing I did not mention is to get the MANUAL megabattery.

The biggest reason I like this startup is my experience trying so many types of juice. Trying four juices at a time should allow you to choose the right juice for you sooner and save some money. Can't say how much.

But be prepared to spend more money on hardware than with a standard startup kit:

I bought a 510 PCC. The short version is that I couldn't trust that it would charge a battery when I needed one. I read reports of peoples' experience with the 510 passthru. They were mixed, of course. I elected to wait for a redesign that is rumored to come out.

I love my 510. I hear you when you get excited about new accessories. I would wait for some more forum experience with the charger.

Agree. With a possible ban or tax, finding your juice is important but as taste/smell change after 3+ weeks that can change. Having the megabatts also helps in this process because one is vaping and tasting a lot at first. Manual all the way, although I suggest if one wants to experience auto, the 510 is one of the best because of no cutoff/time out. Still the manual performs better - better taste and longer battery life if you have the auto in your mouth a lot.

If you buy today, i'd recommend going to Electronic Cigarettes and eLiquid / Totally Wicked eLiquid / Electronic Cigarette eLiquid Store and getting 2 5-packs of 510 atomizers, 1 5-pack of 510 manual batteries, some cartridges for the 510. They're running a 30% off sale which makes them the cheapest place to buy quality stuff, but it ends tomorrow.

Then go to Rockymountainvapor.com and buy a couple of charges for the 510 (they have USB and outlet chargers as well as some e-liquid. I don't know how much you smoke, but when i switched to e-cigs from a little under a pack a day the 24mg juice was just about right. RMV has free shipping as long as you spend 14 bucks, and they ship faster than anyone else i've delt with.

If you wait too long and totally wicked's sale is over, then just buy everything from rockymountainvapor. They have the best prices by far for the 510, especially when you factor in shipping.

Did you read my second post?

I'm not exactly "new" at internet forums... I'm a moderator at two forums that deal with MY hobby of expertise, computers, and have probably a good 30-40k posts under my belt.

The guides are EXCELLENT, much like some of the guides I've personally written for the forums I frequent.

Unfortunately, they don't contain two things which are very important to me, which are first hand user accounts and a direct statement of the highest price/performance ratio product.


I find that the userbases of hobby forums usually attaches themselves to certain products and stores because of value and customer service. Unfortunately a guide which is trying to be non-partial and fair to resellers doesn't exactly help in that department.
