My syringe tank mod is completely leak free and dry as a bone outside - stored upright, on it's side, shaking it about, completely reliable and vapes awesome for a few days. Until...

It gurgles and just starts draining out the hole in the bottom of the cart like crazy. I'm new and the tank is newish and this is the second time it's happened.

Go-Go cart, very very small slot at the bottom of the cart near the bottom washer, 75/25 pg/vg juice. I'm aware that most leaks like this are cartomizer related, but I've taken it apart and filled it back up, and the problem went away for a few days - same cart.

No juice between the ribs of the rubber washers, so its not leaking from the edges of the washers, and the gurgling suggests the leak isn't from the insides of the washers where they contact the cart.

They only difference between scenarios is it leaks when the tank is half full or less...
but that seems weird and I can't find any threads that report the same issue. I dunno if that's just coincidence.

It seems to suddenly wick at the speed of sound, flooding the atomizer. Is it the carto, or pressure/negative pressure in the tank?

I've put the tank in the fridge to increase the viscosity temporarily and it still floods. I rotate it so the slot isn't submerged in the juice and vape until its smooth and gurgle free, then it floods instantly when I submerge the slot again.

Why would it leak so suddenly when it doesn't when it's full, with the same cart!?
I'm hesitant to just fill it up again and end up wasting more juice if/when it starts leaking again. I was going to make a bunch of these mods for my carts but I need to figure this out first. Help!

Could be your juice is too thin/ not enough VG or the holes/ slots in the cartos are too large.

Sounds like the hole in the carto too large
That's my first instinct too but it works great when it's full... or is that a coincidence? If the hole is too big or the juice is too thin, would it be more likely to leak when it's not full?

What PG/ VG % is your juice? Are the cartos pre-drilled or did you do them yourself?
75/25 pg/vg at the moment, and I slot the carts myself with the tiniest slot I can manage with a hack saw. I barely peirce the casing.

Usually when I hear gurgling in my tanked carto it means its time for a new carto... Try a new slotted cart
I think I'm gonna have to. I think the hole needs to be even smaller. I don't want to punch a hole because it makes removing the filler for cleaning difficult. The go-go carts are wider and have more wicking 'volume' - best I can figure. I can tape it up and use it as a regular cart. Smaller slot next time.

So if the hole is small enough, the juice can't wick at the speed of light. Makes sense. I still don't understand why it only happens when the tank is less than 1/2 full. Oh well. Smaller holes for now.
