Hey everyone!

I just placed an order for the Economy Kit from V2, and I'm wondering if maybe I've made a mistake. I'm really new to vaping -- I've only used the Blu brand, and I'm definitely ready to switch over. I used to use a little less than a pack (about 3/4 a pack) of "analogues" a day, spending about $4 per pack.

Anyway, I want to save money, quit smelling like an ashtry, and all of that stuff. I don't want something that looks like a hookah -- I want something that somewhat resembles an analogue. I don't need a whole bunch of bells and whistles -- I just want something easy to use, convenient to order refills, has a long-lasting and rechargeable battery, and good customer services.

Do any of yall have some suggestions, or have I done alright by ordering the kit from V2?

Thanks!!!

Don't feel bad just about everyone here has purchased one of those beginner kits. They do work. The problem with them is the small batteries, unless you are a very light smoker they don't last but a couple hours then it takes forever to charge them. You will need several if you continue with that route. There are much better kits out there but you actually learn quite a bit starting that way as it only gets better with each step up.

First of all, welcome to the ECF.

I sincerely wish you had come here first before purchasing the V2 kit. But as klynnn pointed out, many first time vapors purchase one of those beginner kits and are able to make the switch from smoking to vaping.

Most of us experienced vapors likely would have recommended an eGo battery of some sort. These are larger than the cigarette-size batteries (more like a cigar size). If the larger size doesn't turn you off, the eGo batteries provide much longer time between charges (6 - 12 hours) compared to the cigarette size (2 - 4 hours). My guess is that you will soon tire of needing enough batteries to last out your day and spending all night charging them. In addition to the added battery time of the eGo's, you get many more options in juice carrying devices where the V2's will only offer you cartridges.

vivinovamini-twist.jpgSmokeless Image battery size comparisons.jpg Size comparison of a cigarette, e-cig batteries, and eGo batteries.

I'll provide you with some information that I've collected for new vapors:

Recommended starter's setup - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...06-4-good-starters-setup-beginning-vapor.html

Picture dictionary of common juice delivery devices - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...k-what-primer-juice-delivery-attachments.html

Since it appears that you are commited to the V2 e-cig kit, once you are ready to move up to an eGo setup you already know what to look for. Many vapors continue to use the cig-size batteries socially to not draw attention to themselves, but use the eGo's or mods for home use.

Thanks everyone for the fast replies! I'm in no way committed to the V2 kit!

I'm just really confused as to what everything means, how much money I'll really be saving (I'm a college student...money's tight), etc. I also don't really want to lug around something that's bulky/heavy because then I'll never use it. I'm definitely looking forward to making the switch, and I appreciate all the suggestions above as well as others!!!!

I'm new to vaping also, but my cousin showed me what he tried and wound up liking best. He let me try several of his devices. I bought a kit with 2 ego-C units that hold 650mAh batteries, 4 clearomizers, all the charging gear, and I sprang for an eVic (mod). After using these for 3 weeks, nothing beats the eVic with vivi nova style tanks. However, the ego batteries work great and they're perfect for carrying in your pocket.

You can get everything I listed above except the eVic for about $60. Buy online. The eVic was about $100, I think.

I never looked back. Since my first vape, no analogs for me. Now they stink. My wife is thrilled and doesn't give me any lip at all about buying gear and trying new juices. Best of luck to you!

I started out with a similar kit.
South Beach Smoke. My girlfriend bought it for me off Groupon.
It was $24 for the whole thing. Including 15 tobacco flavored carts.
The refill prices were nuts. So I moved along to Blu Premium100 next.
I still use it when out & at work. The PCC & form factor are convenient.
Finally, I bought a real PV. Johnson Creek Vea. I liked their juices as a Blu user. It was a huge step up. But I still felt like something was missing. Now my main PVs are all Variable Volt devices.
Joyetech Twist & Vision Spinner. It really makes a huge difference.
Clearomizers don't mask the taste of freshly made juice.
If you like a smaller form factor. My favorite PV is the Vision Spinner Mini. It's a 400 mah powerhouse.

After you have been at this awhile you realize function is much more important than looks.
Agreed. When I chose my first starters kit it was a Smokeless Image Volt setup. http://smokelessimage.com/ Four cig-size batteries and an X2 battery (eGo size) for home use. It took me only about two weeks to realize that the bigger the battery the better my vaping experience would be. To heck with what anybody thinks that I'm using. Just say to yourself, "I'm no longer smoking, I AM VAPING, a safer alternative to smoking."

I use the following Provari mod everywhere I go. I get absolutely no comments about illegal devices, not even any dirty looks or stares. More and more people are using e-cigs, eGo's, and big battery mods out in public. You'll soon get over the size or look of a bigger battery. Function over looks.

The below is from another post I answered. Thought I would just copy & paste it.
Hang on, there will be many ideas coming your way.
I went from disposables to this. Although it's a mid sized PV, I actually thought it was smaller than what I expected.
Here you go with one idea:

Might as well tell you what I did.
I got the KGO kit from Hoosiereicg.com. Although it not vv, the KGO kit comes complete with 2 great batteries, charger, clearomizers & is ready to vape. It's a great kit to get you going & you will use it even if you upgrade down the road.
I don't know how to copy & paste links. There is a review by P Busardo on you tube or his website " tasteyourjuice.com & just search for KGO.
I'm very happy with it & the entire kit is approx. $45

It's definitely worth a look. Their customer service is great & the kits are complete except for juice. The batteries will last all day if not more & they also have KGO VV batteries that rival the spinners & twists.
Check it out.

You gotta start somewhere so enjoy the journey! I don't regret spending money on any of my vaping gear! I started out with luxury lights, then I started buying SI products, and I also have a few egos I bought at a local vape shop. There is a learning curb with vape equipment, so starting out small and building will help you know better what to purchase next. I have found that Smokeless Image keeps it pretty simple, website easy to navagate, and most equipment you buy from them is interchangeable, and they stand behind their products! Enjoy your vape!

I pretty much did the same thing you did. Started out with a cigarette lookalike kit (from EverSmoke), then moved up to a ego-T (650 mah battery and clearomizers). I'm perfectly happy with them and will probably stay with them. I will buy some re-buildable clearomizers just to have on hand for spares.

And I understand money being tight. Using clearomizers that I refill with flavored nicotine e-liquid I buy separately is so much cheaper than the pre-filled cartridges I was buying through EverSmoke (and I have a lot more variety). But even that was significantly cheaper than buying cigarettes.

Now I'm getting into making my own e-liquids. This is fun!!

PS - That link for ego-t? I didn't put it there. It brings you to some website I've never heard of so don't assume it's a recommendation or anything like that.

PPS - That's weird. Now the link disappeared. I'm not sure what's going on.
