Help:Triple Twisted 28g Kanthal

Ok I got some triple twisted 28g kanthal and i am trying to wrap it at 1.0-1.2 ohms first try came out to 0.7 on my istick and on my vamo v6 it says 0.5 just to low for me so what should I wrap it at to get the ohms I want

Right now it's 7 wraps 3mm

Making a quick judgment on this one since the pitch of your twist will make a difference, but given you're clocking in at 0.7 on 7 wraps, it should be fair to assume 3-4 more wraps.

Add a wrap or two depending on whether you trust the Vamo over the istick.

Ok thx I'll give that a try just don't wanna waste my wire only got 15 ft otherwise I would just experiment

The selection for twisted is in the drop down that defaults to "round".

It would be the same as a triple coil as far as the calculator is concerned

That might be true of the calculator CB linked, but not true via steam machine and certainly not practically.

It says 13/12 wrap on steam engine not sure if I like that cause of heat up time maybe I'll try just regular twisted that I have

Have you checked your pitch on the wire? 0.4mm to 1.0mm pitch makes a difference of two full wraps - LOTS on a 3mm ID.

Basically the amount of distance between grooves. My dual-strand 26awg twists usually measure to about 0.7mm on the nose.

Box says 0.3 mm not sure if thats pitch or diameter

Hard to say... ~0.3mm is metric for 28awg. If you have a metric ruler you can count out ten notches and divide the length by ten to get a reasonably close measurement.

[EDIT] Come to think of it, I think the calculator will let you switch to imperial.

I think it's the diameter it's all good appreciate all the help when I finish of this tank I'll retry just didn't want to waste wire I bought it twisted so it was a little more expensive for less wanted to see if flavor was any better at 0.7 doesn't seem like flavor is any different than a regular 1.2 ohm coil
