Yes that top screw should be snug ! do not over tighten it that will cause the bottom screw to come loose . I am pretty sure it is a shorting issue , you can also remove the top cap and check the bottom screw to make sure it is tight also .

If you have a voltmeter test the output voltage on the Buzz for me

Bottom screw, holding the ring terminal with wire, was loose on my new Buzz.
Reread about not twisting the wire too much as you are unscrewing the top cap: make sure the attty screw (that makes contact with the center of the atty) does NOT turn much as you turn the top cap CCW to unscrew it.
Let us know what you find after taking the cap off.

I opened the top cap. There was a piece of paper floating around in there. It's the same kind that covers the electronics at the end of the battery tube. I removed that because it was not attached to anything. I tightened the bottom screw.

When I fire it the light starts blue, turns to red and starts blinking red and goes out. I will read how to test the voltage and report back.

I think I know what the problem is !! the phillips head screw on the side of the unit needs to be re-seated !! it is the ground contact for the IC .

loosen then re tighten it several times , the anodizing has to be broken through in order for it to make contact , I have seen this happen several times , it will test fine on the bench then after shipping it will not work ??? weird IMO

let us know

Jezzzz did they change the design again ?? check the silicon spacer in the bottom of the atomizer they will deform and cause a short if you tighten them on to hard

My new attys bottoms are deeper then my old ones. My old ones are even on the bottom. Could that be the problem?
