Hey all, I'm trying to figure out wattage and need some help. I'm using a Vamp V5. I alternate between an I clear 30b and several Vivi Nova tanks. With the I clear, I can max the wattage at 15 watts and get tons of good vapor, but with the Nova I have to keep it at 3 to 3.5 watts or I get a terrible burn taste. This is particularly true when I use My Baker Vapor juice (I can go somewhat higher with other brands, but still not that high). The I clear coil is 1.8, the Novas are 2.4, which further confuses me. Anybody explain this?

The original Vivi Nova tanks were top coil silica 'strings' wick which certainly won't go up much about 9 watts i.i.r.c. (not without patience, anyway).

Are yours those, or the newer Aspire BDC versions, as BDC can burn too?

I am surprised you can get to 15w using an iClear30b, as I wouldn't have expected them to go that far. The "B" was intentionally designed (as far as I know) to go on the Coolfire which was regulated to 8.5watts by Innokin.

So, some more posts needed I think to get to the bottom of all this.

Ah. wattage.

Watts is kind of like volts, kind of like wattage setting the volts for you, and volts kind of being like a manual mode.

Now the range of these kind of goes by your ohms. I have a 2.2 and a 2.4 ohm coil in my tanks. The 2.2 is slowly getting gunked and I normally use VV instead of VW and I have that cranked to 5 volts.

Back to you. The higher your VG in your juice, the harder it will be to wick.

Top fed stands will run lower wattage and voltage as the wicking takes longer. As in the juice takes longer to get to the coil. Bottom fed you can primer your wicks kind of by plugging one airflow hole and taking a light puff as not to flood it.

If you wait the top fed CAN run higher wattage, because the wick is completely saturated and won't burn.

Sometimes, it's about the juice, I use higher VG in tanks like I'm not supposed to and have to prime my wicks after a few puffs.

Also remember there is a point to how high you want to go, sometimes it's about experimenting with the coil, like I said, my 2.2 ohm coil can handle 5 volts and still not burn anymore.

Experiment a bit and remember sometimes its patience for the juice or wicking, others you might just have the watts set way too high for the coil.

Hope I helped a bit friend! And Welcome to ECF.
