HELP-VV/VW? Best tank? Recent convert with several questions!

In the last year I have slowly made the move to electronic vaping. I started off with Blu ecigs in the hopes of quiting the analog habit but found the product insufficient to my needs and extremely expensive operating costs for minimal gain.

A month ago I decided to once again transition to electronic and at the what i think is bad advice of my buddy purchased an atmos rx with optimus liquid tanks. FOUR WEEKS AND NOT A SINGLE CIGARETTE. I was wowed and loved it. That being said, after a months use and some research on this forum I am wondering if I made the wrong buy. The Atmos oil tanks seem to leak constantly, and I am finding the wicks are starting to burn with as little as one to two days of use. While the batteries intially lasted three days for me, im down to half a day to a day on a full charge. While I understand this all needs to be replaced with time, I am grossly dissatisfied with the use I have gotten out of it for the cost, and the perpetual inconsistency in the quality of thier tanks. Some work great, others are seem to be junk right outta the box.

Now that that is on the table, I am looking to buy a new battery and tank, but really dont know what to go with. As far as what I am looking for. I would like a variable voltage and/or variable wattage device. I would prefer an led screen with voltage and battery meter. I think I would prefer to have a unit that itself is the battery as opposed to one of those that you insert the battery into. I say this only because I am under the assumption the ones you place the battery into are larger then the ego type? What are the best options for the above specifications. Id also prefer a larger battery 800-1300 MAH.

As far as tanks, Id prefer to purchase one quality tank that I can replace the parts for cheaply, as I use heavily and can no afford to constantly purchase new tanks. What is the best option in this respect and why?

I apologize for the wall of text and appreciate any responses. Thanks!

The most appealing prospect so far seems to be the Itaste VV 3.0. Is this a good product, what products are similar to this? Or would it be best to go with the stlye you put the battery into? I see alot of people stating the provari is amazing but it looks to be significantly bigger then my current atmos battery and I would prefer not to spend $200.

Also, intial cost is not as much of an issue right now.

Personally I just bought the Itaste V3 and am loving it... does everything you mentioned and looks great too....(comes in 4 colors)

Now I don't know anything about rebuilding the tanks but I have a Protank mini on my Itaste, I THINK those can be rebuilt.......
here's a couple pics..... you can get it with or without tanks

While I am still new with ~5months off analogs, what you are asking for: size of an ego, internal battery and has VV/VW....I think the iTaste is the right direction. I've heard and read good things about the unit but do not own one. You can seach on this forum for more info and reviews and also YouTube. Additioanally once you have 5 posts (done quickly by just replying to others or saying "Hi") you can ask questions in the PV sub-sections for even more information.

As you mentioned the Provari...it is expensive but is rugged and has been a proven unit but you need to keep batteries charged like most of the other setups (Vamo, eVic, Tesla, Vmax, etc...). Many opinions on each unit - you're going to find those that love and hate each, just the nature of the beast. Again....same with tanks as nothing is going to last forever and there are always QC issues to deal with. That said, there are many tanks that have rebuildable / replacable parts cheaply after the initial investment.

Also keep in mind, depending on the eLiquid you choose....there are some that will frost over, leak and crack plastic (polycarbonate) tanks such as Cinnamon and Citrusy flavors. Next step is glass (pyrex) with vendors such as Kanger, IBTanked, Phiniac being the big names. These come as Bottom Coil tanks where coil head is replacable once fully used as well as Carto-tanks (using a poly-filled cartomizer inside a tank).

Hope this helps some....

Welcome Andrew! Your battery description basically describes itaste 3.0. I use it and its very nice and have been thinking about buying a second. With batteries passthrough is passthrough, mah is mah. Tanks are harder because a lot depends on preference. The tank I use is Kanger Protank 2. It works great for me and I find it very easy to maintain with no issues. Hope this helps!

Mini Provari 2.jpgMini Provari v2.jpgmini-&-twist.jpg

A Mini Provair is not very big, even when compared to an eGo Twist (3rd pic).

Yes, a Provari is a large financial investment. And that is exactly what it is. An investment for the present and the future. Unless your plans are to stop vaping in the next 2 - 3 years, a Provari will likely last you far beyond that. It is the most durable, dependable, and consistant variable voltage device you can buy. Part of the initial investment includes buying from a company that will support their product for as long as you own it. They will repair your provari beyond the 1 year warranty for a reasonable fee, usually within a week's time. (Most of the other mods in this class are from China. They all will have less than a year warranty, and once that has expired they do not do repair work on broken items. Your broken mod will be trash.)

Provari's have a very loyal fanbase, and there's a good reason why:

Another Should I Provari?

The above is just a tiny sampling of debates on the merits of a Provari. Do you need a Provari? Probably not. But owning one is an investment in helping you to stay away from cigarettes. You can spend $50 - $100 on a less expensive mod made in China and it may give you a wonderful vape. But consider what will you do if it breaks? Buy another mod? Sure. What about when that one goes down. Buy another one? Sure. How often do you want to do that? Buy a Provari and have piece of mind that it will always work; even in the very rare chance that it should need repair, you can send it to Provape and get it back good as new within a week.

You can often get a Provari as inexpensive as $140 in their clearance section, with full 1 year warranty:

As far as tanks are concerned, your choices are either clearomizer or cartomizer tanks. Both have their merits.

  • Clearotanks include the Kanger Evod and Protanks, Innokin iClear 16 and 30, Vision Vivi Nova, and Smoktech pyrex Aro. Easy to fill on the go. All have replaceable heads.
  • Cartotanks include IBTanked, Valley View Vapes, and Phiniac as popular pyrex tank suppliers. A slight learning curve involved and a little more setup time, but are maintanance free thereafter. Cartomizers are replaceable.

another vote for the itaste vv/vw v3, geez thats alot of v's.

Anyway, I got the kit from fasttech about 3 weeks ago and I am very happy with it's performance. I use mostly big mods, and so an ego-like size battery was something i needed for when i didn't want to have a lightsaber in my pocket.

The performance is pretty standard for most vv/vw apv's that I have(vamo, svd, zmax). It doesn't have quite the voltage or wattage range as the other mods do, but that's to be expected, and I really didn't need it. I use mostly protanks on this but the iclear 16's that came with it have been performing spectacularly, I actually just ordered 10 more.

Buy the kit and a protank, which you can recoil yourself for pennies, rather than shelling out $8 for a 5 pack of coils.

It is really simple and there are a bunch of videos on youtube that will teach you.

There are also a lot of aftermarket parts and tanks that use protank parts, tatroe tank, davide to name a few, so a lot of options there.
Plus with a glass tank, you don't have to check whether or not your juice will eat your tank.

Wow guys! Thanks so much for the flood of information. I really appreciate all of you taking the time to respond. I think I am going to go with the itaste v3. I am going to purchase a single on initially and then maybe a second if I like it, as I can not find a kit with two batteries. Anyone seen one anywhere?

I respect the quality of the provari but I think im not quite ready for it. I still enjoy the smaller form factor of the ego size and the atmos has served me well, just seems like its subpar quality compared to the itaste.

As far as tanks, the protanks is the way to go? Should i go protank mini or kanger v2? These are both glass correct? Do I need more the one or is one okay if I am only doing one flavor at a time? Sorry, dont know much about these rebuildable glass tanks. Only used the low quality ones.

what is the difference bewteen the kanger protank 2 vs the mini. Merely the amount of liquid it holds?

Yes. Avoid the version 1 as sometimes the base falls off. Issue fixed with version 2.
ProTank holds 2.5 ml
Mini ProTank holds 1.5 ml
If using the 2.5 ml ProTank it may be wider than the iTaste and you may want to purchase a beauty ring for aesthetics/ looks.
