i need some help guys. i have been using this patriot on a nzonic the nemesis and the sentinel. i ve never had a problem out of it until recently. the last couple of weeks my coil has been burning my wicking material regardless of what i use. i tried a 0.8 ohm twisted 28g coil (perfectly wrapped ) with cotton and it jus burns the hell out of my cotton and i watched it as i hit the button i could see it burning the juice more in the center than the rest of the coil, it produces this caramelized looking film that sits on the coils and hardens and taste terrible i even tried lower vg juices and different juices still no difference however when i take the cotton out and dry burn in it lights up perfectly from the center to the outside so i ruled out it being the coil or cotton or silica i may have been using. then i tried a regular coil with five wraps of 28g around silica which i never had a problem out of it works fine for like the first couple of drags then begins to burn the wicking material again. i even tried switchin drippers and mods still the same problem. the only thing i could figure is maybe my wire i am using is bad but i dont even think that is possible. someone please help its like i have to change my wick every 2 hours which i never used to do. the kicker is that i never wrap anything below 0.8 ohms im normally at 0.8 or 1.0. someone please help me figure this out

Proper silica does not burn, even if you fire it when it's dry. You can actually torch it and it will glow but not burn.

Cotton when it's wet does not burn either. It has to be dry to do that. 0.8 ohms is about 20 watts on a mechanical mod with a fresh battery, which is reasonable. Caramelizing juice over time is perfectly normal. It should not however be a problem after a few drags. The gunkiest juice I've ever tried still lasts a few ml before I have to dry burn the coil.

Something is wrong for sure. I agree it's not the coil, the silica, the cotton, or the juice. You said the coil lights up from the center out so it's not the RDA or a short, unless you've got a short between the coil and the deck under it after you put in the wick. Be careful also not to short the coil through the cap when you put that on.

If it's none of these things the only thing I can think of is you have the wire too tight on the wick and are choking it. That could stop juice from wicking into the middle of the coil fast enough and cause the juice that is there to burn. The good thing is it's very easy to try less cotton and see if that fixes the problem.

Hope this helps :thumb:
