Ok, so the extender is there so the bottom o-rings of the drip shield form a seal that prevents leakage. If the extender isn't there juice WILL leak out through the, minute, space between the dip tip and atomizer. The black covers that usually come on atomizes are just that. ..covers. They are not usually long enough to accommodate a drip shield either.

The shield just makes it so juice doesn't flow out all over the place. you should have all the components mentioned. the atty, shield, and tip, sealed extender for it all to work as it should

Sorry I don't even know what a drip shield is or what it does but if there is nothing inside of that black piece to soak up juice then I think you need to have one of your own that does.

A 306 drip tip is needed for a 306 atty, BUT in a pinch you can take the sheath and pop the end off with a pen tip or tweezers and use that as a "redneck" drip tip.... A drip shield is OK, but if you're not under-dripping (no vapor, burnt taste) or over-dripping (juice on your hand, poor vapor, flooded) that's when you get the best performance. The drip shield can be used as your "training wheels" but once you get the feel of dripping, it's not required....:)

Yeah,

Who of us,uh, chivalrous gentlemen would miss an opportunity to help a pretty lady in distress. :)

I have been using rebuildable atomizers for a very long time, but I have a 34mm 510 LR dripper from Empire Mods in my array of "toys". Because I have always been pleased with Empires quality workmanship and superior customer service. Plus, they don't sell junk anywhere in their store, so you couldn't have made a better choice. Don't be shy about asking Keith questions, he has always gone the extra mile for me :) . And no, I am not affiliated with them in a compensatory way. Just a happy customer.

So all that being said, I remember being brand new and I also remember feeling awkward about questions. So don't feel awkward. You'll find all kinds of help here.

So, hey, you're puttin' in alot of effort for a six dollar investment. I think the 306 connector is causing you to do all kinds of things to " make it work", when you really just want "rock and roll/ plug and play".

Empire makes the finest LR atomizers around (low resistance: which means 1.5 to 1.8 ohms; makes the vape a bit hotter and more satisfying as it emulates the feel of a cigarette), I think you'd be happy with this:

Empiremods Bridge Free LR510 XL 1.5ohm (34mm)

Very straightforward. Just screw it on your battery drip 3 or 4 drops and vape. And it's a 510 connection. Which is good.

Its a bridgeless,

which makes it look this way on the inside: (bridgeless)

not this: (standard generic atomizer)

which bears similarity to what you have purchased already here:

(with respect to the mesh "bridge" that we're talking about.)

Below that bridge is the ceramic cup that cradles the coil. The cup is the small reservoir that the coil vaporizes, giving you your vape.

I have never found any advantage to an atty (atomizer) with a bridge.

So instead of getting bunches of attachments, I would chalk it up to experience and just by the one I linked above. It's a bit longer, hold a wee bit more juice and it's plug and play.

If you just stick with 510 connections, which are the real standard, you'll be fine. You want to stay with all 510 connections so it doesn't get so confusing in the beginning. Drip tips are the easiest part.

Most of what you've purchased will all make sense later with time so it's not really a waste.

Congratulations on switching over to vaping. You will inevitably find cigarettes are inferior to vaping, and thus not a temptation anymore :)

(BTW, here's a link to a primer I wrote a while back which started as a letter to a friend. It is a bit older but still covers alot of the basics:
