Last Saturday I woke up with what looks like a thousand bites on my thighs. It looks like I was bitten by a thousand baby mosquitoes! Actually looks like blisters close up. They itch too! Its not hives or dry patches with welts. They are seperate little bumps.
I bought some benadryl pills and cream, they have helped a little.
So Sat and Sun it is on my thighs, on Mon it starts moving down to my knees. DH and I are looking at everthing on web md trying to figure out what this is...arghh can't find a thing. Allergic reation, maybe, but I have not changed anything
laundry soap
shampoo
conditioner
bath soap
lotion
hair spray
etc etc etc
I have not eaten out nor have I eaten anything new.
I have not gotten overheated or been near poison ivy or poison oak. No yard work, hubby does that. I have been lazy the last few weeks since we finished the ceramic tile in the kitchen.

Tues, now it has moved from my knees (skips the calves) down to the ankles and a few spots on my arm. Went to the clinic (specifically for the company I work for) and saw the PA who barely looks at it and says that it is probably contact dermatitus, fancy name for skin rash...lol. I am not contagious so she says, that is yet to be determined.

I asked does an allergic reaction to something spread from thighs to ankles? Well that is possible. Okay whatever!
She gives me a script for a steroid cream. The benadryl works better don't know why.

Wed it is now on my calves and my upper arms, itchy itchy itchy!!!

Today I have my lovely yearly appt....double yuk! I asked her what she thought it might be, she's not sure but says that it is the weirdest skin rash she has ever seen.

So I am thinking do I spend more money and go to my regular doctor or just wait it out, no new outbreaks today that I can see.

So now I am changing my name from FM to Itchy!! :D

(wow that is really long sorry)

Please don't use the steroid cream unless you really have to. My hubby has contact dermatitis and they gave him some and it thinned the skin on his hands to the point you could tear it with your fingernail.
His problem is chronic, he is allergic to nickel. so he uses "Freederm" we order online.

Hope you find out what it is.

OMG thank you for that advice, I have only used it twice cuz it doesn't work as well as the benadryl cream. I either need to find out what it is or it needs to go away!!! Its driving me nuts.

Bird Mite Characteristics

here's my diagnosis..lol! Poison oak or bird mites.

We caught bird mites when Mike worked for a feed company. The birds fly in thru the open bay doors and set up shop. When Mike was cleaning the rafters with his crew..he brought it home. he gave it to me..I gave them to the grandson who gave it to his Mom and dad and other grandma, grandpa and Uncle! It presents as a nasty spreading itchy rash. The site will tell you how to treat but you may need to see a Dr. who will need to take a small sample to make sure. It takes a while to treat with the cream they give you. Doctors aren't trained to spot this BTW.

We get P.G. in toothpaste and ie cream..not to mention make up and inhalers used for lung transplant patients. If you were sensitive..you would have known it by now, not 3 months down the road. I doubt it would manifest as a rash on your legs. Maybe around the mouth, nose or hands.

Thought of another one:
bed bugs

Ok that is just scary! I think I have bed bugs.....YIKES! I was reading about them and was wondering why hubby hasn't had any bites, some people are not affected by them. EEEWWWWWW!!!! I am going to my doctor tomorrow, I hope they can squeeze me in. He washed the sheets on monday when I was working, i think he thought I was contaigous....lol. So maybe thats why it has gotten much worse.

Well I am going to take my benadryl and go to bed.

Geez I hope thats not what it is!!!

Thanks MK great information.

I was thinking about the clorox bath I did that for poison ivy when I was a kid, it does help. Cant' get in to the dr today, he is not there, darn it!
Thought about the chiggers but I have not been outside since this started. The heat makes the itchibg worse. Because it is spreading don't think that is what it is, unless they can live in throw rugs? Can they?
I have even checked the dog for fleas she's little and short hair so that was easy.
I did not see any new ones today so maybe it is working itself out of my system....I hope!!!

Thanks ladies for all your help!!

Over the years I've developed a "rash" of sorts along with welps and sore joints and swelling. I've been tested for everything and nothing shows up. I've seen a Dermatologist,ENT,rheumatologist, immunologist and been thru the allergy clinic. They put me on prednisolone, med pack, all kinds of allergy pills. I was on the prednisolone so long I had the moon shaped face! I finally stopped all meds and started taking 4 benadryl everynight and shazaam no more symptoms. The doctor's couldn't find ANYTHING wrong, so I figured the worst that could happen was I'd sleep good ;) I haven't had this anomaly happen again since.............my dr calls it the GOK disease. (God Only Knows)

Woohoo!!! Figured out what my allergic reaction is. DH called and reminded me that I took my dog to the groomers last Friday I totally forgot about it, and maybe it was the cleaner stuff they put on them, since she sits on my lap all the time and it started on my thighs….hmmm.

That could be, so I called them and it turns out they are using a new powder hair cleaner. I told her to make a note in the file “DO NOT USE POWDER ON THIS DOG”, I will wash her prior to bringing her in, and all I want you to do is cut her hair.

So DH is giving her a bath, washing her couch blanket, vacuuming the couch and the throw rugs. Thank goodness she does not sleep with me there’s no telling how many spots I could have ended up with.

Now I am just sitting back waiting for the itching to stop! :D

Hopeing the Dr can figure out what is causeing your rash and give you something that will help, can't imagine how misserable it must be and a little frightening too, I had a rash many years ago that started on my neck and soon went all down my chest, got it from makeing out with a guy with a beard. LOL.

OMG scary did you find out what it was?
