I find myself getting more and more experienced with PV's and such by the day better and better.

Yet my journey was a most unusual one. I tried a disposable ecig, then went on to buy a v2 kit, returned it after one week, and bought a lavatuve v2. It is an excellent PV, and has only had 1 minor battery coil issue to date.

However, my arsenal is limited to just the lava tube. I am looking to buy a backup to my lavatube. What is a affordable solution? My lava tube has a 510 connection, and my backup needs to work with my tank (I tend to use 2 ohm cartos). Any advice from a more experienced perspective?

Factors to consider would be the price range you want your back up to be.

It would be convenient to pick a device that uses the same size and type battery of your Lava Tube, and can be used in your current battery charger.

Compatible juice delivery devices are also a consideration, as you also pointed out, but since the Lava Tube uses the common 510 connection, this shouldn't be a major issue with so many of them available in a 510 connection. Most mods use this connection.

I won't recommend any actual PV's, because I'm not aware what each batteries they use. But that compatibility is how I often choose my secondary mods.

Or you can go cheap and get some type of eGo battery to serve as a backup.

I think you would have a hard time beating the VAMO for the features, quality and price. It is variable watts/variable voltage, has 510 and eGo connections as well as a fast, user-friendly menu system. It's also built like a tank. You can use a single 18350, a single 18650 or stacked 18350 IMR batteries with it.

Exhale Vapors has the stainless steel version in stock for $46.78 if you use the March10 coupon code.

This issue with the battery rattling in this PBusardo review has already been fixed with a better spring that ships with the current VAMO.

I really think everyone needs a bullet proof back-up, the type of security that can only be provided by a good mechanical mod. I recently picked up a Natural from Smok Tech and am really happy with it. Pricing is decent and not much can go wrong, put in a battery and it will work. Can be used with just about any 510 or eGo style juice delivery system, fire button is smooth and can be locked. I have mine set up with an AC9 right now.

It almost looks like this is going to be a personal war between the Vamo and a Ego Pass-thru battery.

1. Where is the best place to buy the Vamo (I just need the unit. It uses 18650 batteries, which is all my Lavatube v2 can take)

2. Where is the best place to get a ego kit, that has a passthru unit, that comes with all of the adapters and such?

The cheapest place to get a VAMO is Vapor Break in China. You have to log in to see the lowest price. Their customer service is nearly non-existant but people do seem to get their VAMOs. There's a Vapor Break thread in the VAMO sub-forum. The cheapest U.S. price is usually Exhale.

I have a variable voltage 650 mAh pass-through from LJ's E-Smokes. I've never had any problems with it and LJ's always ships right away.

Vapor Beast has aMini Mod - Variable Volt Passthrough which has no battery and an Ego Pass-Through - 900 mAh with no variable voltage. Vapor Beast's prices are reasonable, if not the lowest. The shipping is fast and the customer service is superb.

The USB cords are included with all the pass-throughs to which I linked.

Honestly my Reo is both my backup and in my normal rotation. It's expensive but it takes the 18650 which I use in all my devices and is down right indestructible. The main part is that you can basically screw anything into it including a plain ole carto or atomizer and still have a great delivery system.

As for cheaper backups the Ego Twist 1000mah is a good way to go, or a cheap box mod. It's also not a bad idea to buy a non battery passthrough for absolute emergency situations in the house as they can provide a 5v vape forever.
