Thanks to some of the hard work that went into explaining how to rebuild an atty, I managed to successfully complete my first one (510 with the wide band ring from TW).

It takes a while to get the knack of cracking them open without demolishing them, handling the tiny components, and soldering such fine wire. I am using 36 ga Ni Chrome wire from Jacobs.

The atty seems to run hotter, almost like a low resistance atty. I measured the resistance, and it is around 4 ohms which is consistent with an atty that has been used a bit. I could try using a bit more wire on the next one (2.25 ohms/inch) or trying a slightly thicker gage with more resistance. As you well know, there is not a lot of room inside the ceramic cup.

With some of my juices, I prefer the cooler taste. Others, need more of a bite so I will go to a higher voltage.

The only difference is in the reassembly, I just cannot seem to wrap back all of the mesh and get it to fit in the tube/sleeve. I am wondering if this is causing the atty to run hotter.

Also, I am not sure if I used enough wick (one strand, doubled up; but I got mine from the local hardware store instead of ordering it on-line-kind of a fun place with all kinds of aisles and corners where stuff is stored, unlike the super sterile mega DIY superstores).

Any ideas, opinions, thoughts, tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

From my experiance the wick should be snug inside the coil. If it's to loose it will burn too hot.
If you got fiberglass from the hardware store you should boil it first before using. it will get any manufacturing residue off and soften it making it easier to thread through the coil.

No big deal either way if you use all the mesh or not. If the atty taste burnt you might want to clean the mesh.Imo that is where the burnt taste resides.
Check your coil for any overlap, if it touches anywhere it will short out to where it touches and lower your ohms.
Good luck.
