I can't seem to find a good vanilla recipe that doesn't include stuff I don't have right now. I would really like a nice sweet vanilla ice cream/cupcake/custard flavor (my only reference point is that I like Ms. T's vanilla custard).

I have:
TPA Vanilla Swirl
TFA French Vanilla
Cotton Candy or TFA sweetener

In pre-mixed form I have
TFA Caramel
Nature Vapor Vanilla Cupcake

Can I accomplish a nice sweet vanilla flavor with what I have or do I need to get more ingredients?

The vanilla cupcake is already mixed into a ready to vape e-liquid. I need to find out what percentage it is.

I am about to place an order at Capella, I was thinking about getting
Vanilla Custard
Sweet Strawberry
Caramel
4th thing (Maybe pralines&cream, cake batter, sugar cookie or something else? any feedback on what would give me options as far as recipes go)

Vanilla Cupcake premade juice? That's fun ... you can put some in a smaller bottle and try adding different flavorings to it. You could make Peanut Butter Caramel Cupcakes, Strawberry Cupcakes, etc., etc. Whatever you want. :)

As far as Capella's ... I personally don't think you can go wrong with Capella's. It's great. I, myself, always keep their Peanut Butter, Marshmallow, and NY Cheesecake on hand. Capella's is the only brand I use for these flavors. Highdesertvapes has smaller bottles of Capella's, in case you wanted to see what you like. They also carry FlavorWest, which has some good flavors (I like their Caramel Candy).

But, here's a couple of Vanilla recipes for you to try. Remember, you can ALWAYS adjust them to your taste. :)

A Vanilla Pudding style juice:
10% French Vanilla
8% Bavarian Cream
8% NY Cheesecake
1% Vanilla Swirl
and some Cotton Candy (or sweetener) to taste.

A simple recipe if you're just starting out, is a mixture of half Vanilla Swirl and half Bavarian Cream ... good and easy. It depends on how strong you want your flavor. You could do flavoring anywhere from 7% each to 12% each. It's up to you ... and what you like.

One last thing ... make sure you have a good juice calculator. I use ejuicemeup.

Good luck, and have fun! Hope I've help you some. :)

Well you already have a good blender, vanilla custard. There are two flavors from capellas that i keep on hand at all times,Boston Cream Pie and Cake Batter.I keep boston cream pie just in case i am out of the flavors to make my own,and there cake batter is great.Sugar cookie is a good choice i don't have capellas though mine is ECX sig. series. and have a 30ml bottle steeping now.Fudge brownie and rocky road are good choices too.I do keep 3-4 tobacco blends on hand because you can get burnt out on desert vapes all the time, just a hint,i preffer double RY4,coumarin pipe, tobaccoexpress 555 and french pipe.

EDIT: You can add a sweet flavor to a tobacco blend too if you want a little sweet taste to it.

I read that you shouldn't buy french vanilla and vanilla custard because they are so similar? I am trying to get the most versatility possible with only buying about 4 bottles.

I don't see small bottles of capellas at high desert vapes?

I plan on ordering flavorings from Wizard Labs but it is so hard to find stuff in stock there so I was going to place an order at capellas in the mean time. Seems like Vanilla Custard & Sweet strawberry are a must. Other than that I can't find anyone speaking strongly to or describing the other flavors.

You can get capella flavors at ecigexpress cheaper than capellas site,if you want to save a little money getting the flavors.Sorry i don't use the other two flavors and can't comment on them.

EDIT: If i am not mistaken,Ella's Gourmet Flavor Drops are rebranded Capella, again not positive about that.

Well, even though it works out to be slightly more expensive from high desert they have a much wider selection. Are there any other must haves from the other flavoring places? Their TPA stuff is quite a bit more expensive than Wizard Labs but I wouldn't mind picking up one or two things if it is going to make me capable of pulling off many more recipes.

#1 on my list is being able to make some good Vanilla flavors. Vanilla Custard / Vanilla Ice Cream / Vanilla & caramel
#2 good fruit flavors

Must admit I am browsing the HDV website and am becoming quite overwhelmed between all the different companies and different flavors offered.

I know it can be overwhelming at first ... but what I recommend to start, is to search the forum for recipes and see what sounds good to you. Then you'll know what flavors you'll need to order. :) It's all depends on what you like (that's the fun of DIY).

Here's one link that may help: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/wellness-wrecked-bonkers/163598-diy-recipe-book.html

My personal favorite combinations are:

Capella's Peanut Butter and TFA Banana Nut Bread (with a little Capella's Marshmallow and sweetener)
Capella's Peanut Butter and FlavorWest Caramel Candy ... with some Vanilla Cupcake, Cap's Marshmallow, and Cotton Candy)

That's just a couple of examples. :D

Vanilla Ice Cream can be purchased as one single flavor from HDV.I would like to here what type of a flavor you vape before i could say anything as far as must have flavors for you.Like,do you vape rich, complex flavors,or something lite and relaxing etc...

I like Fruits (natural and sweet tasting if that makes since, not candy jolly rancher like) and I like vanilla stuff like Ms. T's vanilla custard. I mean to be honest, I am getting into DIY because I am so sick of crappy liquid. I think I would like vanilla/caramel flavors in many combinations whether creamy or crisp or custard just as long as it tastes like something real.

I have been shopping around HDV and this is what I have in my cart so far

Capella:
Vanilla Custard
Caramel
Cake Batter
Marshmallow
Sweet Watermelon
Sweet Strawberry
Toasted Almond

Flavor West:
Blackberry

TPA:
Juicy Peach

I figured that the Capella would give me a good start with the Vanilla Custard/Cake Batter/Caramel/Marshmallow/Toasted Almond in combination wit hthe TPA Vanilla Swirl and TFA French Vanilla that I already have to make a decent amount of Vanilla-y stuff.

I have heard their Sweet Strawberry & Watermelon are excellent, even as standalones?

The other 2 companies I am just taking a shot in the dark. I would like to have some Pear/Peach/Strawberry/Passion Fruit/ and especially blackberry flavorings that have a good natural fruit taste to them that I can then sweeten at my discretion.

You can make a few recipes with what you have so far,now that i have more of an idea of what you want i think i might be able to help a little bit.Blackberry is the ONLY fruit flavor i have and keep simply because that is the one fruit i enjoy as a standalone.Vanilla custard will work with just about any mix you have as a blender to add a creamy taste to it,along with marshmallow i use both of those myself.I also keep FA Vienna, and Catalan Cream on hand too.You can make a mixed fruit flavor with both the watermelon and strawberry but usually when a watermelon is used,it usually takes over and is the only fruit you can taste. I have also heard that the juicy peach is an awesome flavor on it's own too.If you like creamy flavors i would suggest getting Double RY4.You can get it from HDV it is TPA flavor,it has a rich creamy vanilla, caramel flavor to it and needs to be steeped for best results.Mixing the strawberry, custard, toasted almond, and marshmallow would make a nice vape, that sounds like a go only wish i had the strawberry to try that.Flavorwest flavors are just as good more than half of my flavorings are FW but i do use others that are not carried by them(cake batter, boston cream pie, vienna, catalan etc..)One last i would suggest since you have toasted almond,is getting Acetyl Pyrazine (TPA).It helps bring out the bread, crust, cake flavors in juice.Alot of DIY'ers use it in there RY4 mixes, use sparingly 1-2 drops.

Flavor West Vanilla Custard has lemon in it. So, I would try that one first to see what else is in there. Never used Capella.

I just did one:
FW 7% strawberry
FW 7% sweet cream

Sandie, I just whipped up a batch of your Vanilla Pudding recipe. It is ridiculously yummy! A new favorite, for sure. If fact, I like it so much that I'm feeling a bit dizzy. I'll probably make the next batch at a lower nicotine level. lol I didn't have any of the Capella NY Cheesecake on hand, so I used TFA Cheescake and it tastes great, so I can imagine how much more awesome it will be with Capella. I only have a handful of their flavors, so far. I'm waiting for another one of their 50% off sales to scoop up some more. Thanks for the recipe!

Edit to add... I used 2% TFA Sweetener, and it was the perfect amount of sweetness (for me).

You're Welcome ... Glad you liked it! :)

Also, Capella's has lowered their prices on flavorings (13ml) to only $3.29. So you don't have to wait for a sale to get a great price on their flavors! Just order direct: Concentrated Flavorings|Sugar Free Drink | Flavor Drops
