Hi folks, I mixed up a black cherry custard using a custard base I like. Its only had a week of steeping so far. Inhale tastes good, exhale tastes good, then I get this nasty aftertaste (like plastic). I can't stand the aftertaste.

This is my recipe. Any advice to fix it or should I just ditch it?

12% TFA Vanilla Custard
2% TFA Graham Cracker Clear
5.5% TFA Black Cherry
0.5% TFA Cotton Candy

I don't know if that plastic will go away as it steeps, if I should add a few drops of Smooth, cut the % of cherry, do a complete overhaul or pour it down the drain.

1. What does BC taste like as a standalone in a single mix? Suggest mixing at 7.5% for single. If you still get a plastic taste you have found your answer.
2. I like to keep experiment mixes to 2-3 mils max..
3. VC suggest mix is normally around 4-5 % for most recipes.
4.Typ BC negative comments:
a) very strong chemical taste, at least at first. Not sure after weeks of steeping. At this point I’m only willing to go with < 2-3%
b) Only used this once or twice but it tasted kind of cough syrupy.
c) Steeping helps mute chemical flavor, not a bad black cherry
5. Could try something along these lines next time:

Vanilla Custard (CA) 5%
Black Cherry (TFA) 2.7%
Blackberry (CA) 2%
Butter (TFA) 2%
Pecan (TFA) 1%

I would cut it with unflavored before tossing. Just rough mixing x drops of this and x drops of that.
I like cheery but must use it sparingly for it to taste good. YMMV.

It actually tasted worse to me yesterday after sitting in my Magma for 24 hours, lol!

I think I'm going to mix it with an equal amount of my custard base to make the cherry percentage half of what I used. I may add some cream of some sort (bavarian cream or maybe vanilla swirl). Then try it again.

Vanilla swirl is what I used to get a nasty cherry vapable.
I love black cherry, but have had miserable luck as a DIY flavoring.

Any juices your willing to throw down the drain, Il take em :)

If I can't fix it, its yours :)

I made a caramel pear from a recipe I found here that was absolutely horrifying. But, I did a major overhaul, and now its one of my favs :). So I still have hope for my cherry, but we will see.
