I received two E1s yesterday in the mail. I filled each one up with an 80PG/20VG juice, let them sit for about 20 minutes and started vaping. The first one hit great for about 3 hits, then severely burnt taste @ 3.8V on a twist. I believe these are standard resistance. I thought maybe I had a bad coil. I changed the head, refilled, waited 20 minutes, again three decent hits then severely burnt taste, even at 3.2V. I loosened the top metal/plastic cap a little bit, let it set overnight, and this morning I think I got 4 hits before I get a burnt taste. I'm using a thin juice so I don't feel my juice is the problem.

Looking at the head I took out, it looks like maybe the silicon cap is sitting too far down on the center post and preventing liquid from entering the center post and reaching the coil. Maybe? I've read about people making slits in the silicon cap, and I've read people not ever have any problems with the E1 at all. Could I have done something wrong, or is this bad QC?

The second one I accidentally tilted the center post when filling and when I tried taking a hit from it, I got no airflow at all. I'm guessing I just need to take this one apart and back together again.

Hey fatcharlie, saw your post drifting away and yet unanswered. Anyway, you probably won't like my comment much. I tried the E1 a couple months ago when DV first got them in. Got 3 of them. Tried everything, even rebuilding the head. Without a doubt, the E1 has to be the worst device I ever purchased or used. Never had a good hit of any kind, no matter what I did. Cleaning, burning, soaking, letting it sit to wick, different positions, nothing worked. Finally in disgust threw every one of them and all replacement coils, everything, into the trash can. Don't know who was responsible for letting these things out in the wild, but if it has an "E" in front of it, I run the other way!

Thanks for the reply scalewiz. I did read where I can notch the rubber/silicon cap on the coil. Ultimately though I think I'm going to throw them out. Not because of this but because it just seems my throat or lungs or sinuses just don't tolerate top coils for some reason. I can vape on my CE3 bottom coils all day long, or even cartos, and have no side effects. Yet as soon as I start to vape a top coil either my lungs start producing more phlegm, or my sinuses, not sure, but I constantly have to clear my throat from phlegm, and I wake up the next morning coughing and clearing out my lungs. I get nothing like this with bottom coils. It's a shame really because I recently bought a Thor and a CE5 from DV and the flavor was really great, amazing compared to my experience with the Mini Vivi Nova. I just don't get it.

Hi fatcharlie, i learned with my Kanger t2, if you dont clean this stuff before you use it the first time, you can get a bad experience.

I believe it was a company called Esco or something like that.

Yep. Esco.

I do have some heads for a Mini Vivi that I soaked in PGA for quite a few days that I haven't tried. I have wondered if there's something in the wicks that causes my problems. The CE3 bottom coils have very little wicking material in them, and top coils wicks are quite long.

Thinking about the E1, I'm not sure I'd really recommend it only because the center post just kinda sits in the base. It's not a permanent piece, nor does it screw in. The second one I filled I accidentally knocked the center post out of the base. I thought I put it back in properly, but when I put it all back together I got no airflow whatsoever. It's probably not something that would happen very often, but at the same time seems like a bad design.
