I just bought a halcyon dna200 squonker from Phanner on these boards ( can some tell me why it errors out when leaving feedback? Acts as if all fields are not filled out correctly) and I'm having just a little trouble wicking correctly.

So this is my first squonk box, I have a custom classic mech box on the way. This probably has too many variables, but I seem to get dry hits pretty regularly. the only atty I'm using is the tsunami at the moment, I have a narda and velocity V2 I will be experimenting with tonight.

I just cant seem to get the wick saturated enough to my liking. When dripping normally through the top right on the posts and coils I get the normal super flavorful vape I'm used to. With the squonk even when its a good pull it seems sort of dry.

This may be due to my build as well, I'm running some 3mm claptons that came with the atty, thinking of using N80/90 like I do in my mechs. Also the bottle seems pretty stiff, I can squonk and watch the liquid move through the hole in the atty but it never seems enough to fully saturate.

Are there basic beginner tips or things I should be aware of to make this just a little more hassle free?

Thanks

It could be that you're not maintaining pressure on the bottle long enough to allow the wick to be fully soaked. It is advisable to take the cap off, squonk and watch how long it takes to et our wick adequately soaked. This will of course vary from atty to atty, bottle to bottle, and will also vary with the extent to which the bottle is empty/full.

There is also a learning curve to wicking for squonking. If you are wicking like you did when you were dripping, you most likely have too much wick. When squonking it is better to have short tails on the wicks. Think more like a bow tie when the wick is dry. Sorry I'm out and about now, or would give you a pic.

Depends on the RDA, too. I haven't used my squonkers in a bit since I am buying other things right now, so I can't say. But, a mech squonker will be a lot simpler to learn with when you get yours.

A regulated squonker with a lot of variables in building and using may be a better second step.

I jus reread your post and you seem to see the same. Anyway, good luck.
