Help with Burning Out Coils in a Day

Ok! I have been reading alot of threads on here looking for help but figured i would join and post my own issue and see what all you experts have to say! I have been vaping since february and don't want to give up. I started with a totally wicked eco c single coil system and didn't really have any issues. I was burning through the coils about once a week and had heard that they should last a month but never determined why. My battery was shot from water (i was cleaning it with water, my bad ;) ) so i had to get a new battery. I got an Itazte vv battery and was told it's top of the line. My brother was using the Kanger tech Protank and was happy with it. I wanted to try a dual coil system for "more" vape. I now have 3 tanks (Aspire, Kangertech Protank Mini III and Kangertech Aero tank with adjustable air flow). I can't get the coils to last longer than a day, maybe two. I have tried adjusting voltage and at one point was only using a 3.3v for a full 24 hour period. I have tried only hitting it a few times every hour and putting it down. I have tried switching to a single coil and that didn't even last 24 hours. I can clearly see the coils aren't burnt out at all. They are light in color and still clear. So they aren't burnt out. I am really really frustrated changing the coils every day. I keep finding something online and think: "This is it" but so far i haven't been able to solve my problem. I am watching some youtube video's now on how to clean the coil but again, they don't look too used. I did try getting a new battery too (same brand) to see if i had a bad battery. I don't want to give up but my husband and coworkers are ready to stab me in the heart with my vaporizer! Any help is greatly appreciated.
Tried Dual coils in both 1.5 ohms and 2.00. KangerTech Brand
Tried Single coil 2.5. Kanger Tech Brand
Should i scrap this and start somewhere from scratch?!!? :) Thanks in advance! :)

There are lots, and I mean lots, of bad coils floating around. When people get a good batch they last quite a while, but there seems to be a wave of bad batches hitting the stores lately. You can always try rebuilding the heads, lots of people do that, and there are lots of youtube videos about it, but you'll have to get some resistance wire and wicking material to get started.

When you say they are burning out, have you put them on an ohm tester? Is it possible you have a sunken 510 pin on your device and you aren't getting a reliable connection?

Sorry i was rambling on in my frustration! :) I thought they were burning out but now i am thinking they are not. Can i add a picture in here? It will hit great all day or for a 24 -48 hour period and then all of a sudden I can't get anything out of it. But if i change the coil it works fine. Thats the only reason i am thinking its the coil.

I watched a youtube review of my tank and at the end the guy said that the dual coils that came with burned out in a day but put a single coil in and all was fine. I haven't heard of an ohm tester. And do think that is possible with the 2 batteries and three different tanks i have tried? I have tried changing some parts to see if those were the issue.

Kanthal can't be burned-through so fast, even with a 12V car battery. Do you vape sweet juices? I personally vape unflavoured and do my own coils (also kanger) and a single coil lasts me around two months (that's WITHOUT dry-burns!). Sweet juices, however, used to plug my coils with goo in about 48 hours of chain vaping.

What mix juice are you using, 50/50 or something else? Have you used the same juice all along or have you changed around? VG is heavy on sugar and will gum up a coil quicker than PG. It's also thicker and you could have a problem with wicking. I was also going through a coil a day, but it was because I went to 100% VG, from a 50/50 mix of VG/PG. I helps things by taking out the flavor wick. It let things "flow" better. But, in the end I didn't like spending the money buying coils, so I decided to rebuild them. Save your old coils, even if you don't think you'll rebuild. You might change your mind later. Kanger coils are fairly easy to rebuild and you can buy the Kanthal wire and Silica wicks online. I bought just a short length of each as a combo on Ebay, just to try out to see if I could. It's a lot cheaper on Amazon. You Tube is full of videos on the subject and some are in HD and give great closeups and descriptions. Let us know of your juice situation and the exact symptoms and we can help a lot better.

I use KP2 & Ego-T 1300 mah batteries. They're 2 mos old and I've never burned out a coil. Ginny Tx, my better half, uses mostly KP2's with Vision Spinners, 2200 mah Ego-T, 1300 mah Ego-T, 1300 mah Aspire batteries & has only burned out 1 coil & that was in her 5ml Nautilus. I believe the reason for their longivity is that I bored out all the air inlets to 1/16". I'm using adj air flow valves on all the ego's & I bored then all the way to the center of the valve

I am using Totally Wicked's Titan Fluid (ice menthol 18mg/ml) and i can't tell what the ratio is. There is no information on the bottle and i just tried looking online. I did have the vape store people check it out and they didn't think it was an issue. It's pretty light and moves around really quick. they did show my the different kinds of liquids. I bought 10 20 ml bottles of this online so i am trying to use it up. I get nervous with all the random juices out there and want to make sure i know what i am getting. I am saving all my coils now and will definetly look into rebuilding them. But still hoping to find a solution. :) I appreciate all the help!

Is Kanthal a brand?

Got this off their website: The range is made exclusively for TW by our primary partner Joyetech; produced in Joyetech™s own specially developed fluid production facility, run to European standards of quality and product specification. The Titan Range is mixed with a blend of propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine and offers an exceptional value and quality e-liquid.

I'm with Glycerol on this. I use RDAs, but a coil is a coil, and mine easily last two months.
I also think the liquids we use is the culprit most of the time.

Now with the news about obliterative bronchiolitis, and not knowing which flavorings contain diacetyl or acetyl propionyl, I think I'm also on the "unflavored" bandwagon as well until it all gets sorted out.
    http://gfn.net.co/downloads/2014/posters/122 Farsalinos - DA_AP.pdf

"Conclusions. DA and AP were found in a large proportion of sweet-flavored EC liquids,"

This is this study folks http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...farsalinos-crowfunding-campaign-research.html so it's NOT junk science.

Kanthal wire isn't a brand like Kleenex. It's a type of wire used for making coils in lots of things, so it's a fairly common industrial wire. When shops list a juice as "best mix" they're usually talking about a 50/50/ mix of VG and PG. The VG gives you the "clouds" or vapor you're used to seeing when smoking analogs. The PG is mostly a flavor carrier, with less "clouds." VG doesn't carry flavor as well and you either have to give it an extra "flavor shot" or mix in some PG. Some flavors are made with PG, but some are a mix of both. I don't see too many flavorings made with VG. VG is really thick and sweet. Dry burning your coil and/or replacing your wick could help your situation. Like I said in my earlier post, just by removing the "flavor" wick I got better results when using 100% VG. The flavor wick is the one just laying on top of the coil/wick combo. Sometimes it's just one, but usually it's two. You might want to halve the flavor wick before removing all of it. Save the flavor wick until you get your own wicking material, in case that doesn't help. Just rinse it out, holding it with a pair of tweezers and then let it dry good before putting it back in.

I have been to 3 vape shops in the area. So frustrating because they are really JUST popping up around here. I was so impressed with the totally wicked staff and store in florida but i am near chicago. At this point everyone, including my dad, think i am doing something wrong. But i am not slow and i have done a lot of research and tried trouble shooting so i just don't know what to do! I will be in florida in the fall and am looking forward to meeting with some more experienced vapor experts. I have probably made about 6 trips to the vape store in the past week or two. It works so awesome for 24 hours and then nothing!

i buy 25 kanger coils at a time, off ebay.1.8 to 2.2 ohm ,i have found after a day or 2 i take em off and let em sit in warm water then dab with paper towel and let them dry over night.this keeps my coils from getting burnt juice build up.the minute you get the burnt taste remove and clean.i am using a stingray mod clone, with a davide tank and kanger coils.i don't like the t-3 coils much and the aspire coils are crap for me. oh also i found the darker juices burn the coils faster 2.

That's good advice. I too bought my coils off of Ebay at different ohms, to see what worked better. It seems that even though I was getting the genuine Kanger coils in the blister pack, in the Kanger box, about one in three wasn't as good and didn't last half as long as the others. It could have been counterfeit coils, but they were etched on the base, so I doubt it. Some people advise rinsing your heads (coil/wick combo) with Vodka or Everclear. To me that's just an added expense, so I just used water and let them dry good.
