Help with Cotton wick low ohm coil manager style head

I am using awg 34 nichrome 80 making a 1.5-1.6 ohm coil in my Davide glassomizer. Wrapping it around toothpick that I sanded down to 1.5mm. I am using organic cotton ball for my wick. Amazing flavour and vapour compared to stock coil. But I get hot leg and occasionally some boiling juice hitting the back of my throat. How to stop these two things?

Should also add I am using a vision spinner set between 3.7-4.3 volts.

Crank back the voltage a bit. I've wrapped a few heads that came in under the 1.8 I was aiming for, and got the same thing - just back it off a bit. That, or put a flavor wick over the coil. A small twist of cotton should do it. All the charts I have show anything over 3.6 is danger zone for that low a resistance. There's nothing that says you can't run it that high, you're just in an area where the coil may burn out faster.

I did do the flavor wicks it seemed to work. But they definitely dumb down the flavor and vapor. I was only having the splashes in my throat after a couple of days with the same coil.

From the legs of the coil touching each other, i believe.

They are on opposite sides of the cup. They are starting to scorch the rubber grommet a wee bit.
