Everyone joins this forum for different reasons. I joined when I could no longer purchase my favorite e-liquid and was looking for alternatives. There is an overwhelming amount of information here. I mostly surf the e-liquid threads as I am happy with my equipment but have had no luck in my search for a replacement flavor. I've tried a LOT of flavors. Nothing so far has been even closed to what I'm looking for.
At the recommendation of a few members to DIY it, I started purchasing flavoring with the intention of maybe getting close to the flavor I like. This seems like a daunting task considering the amount of available options when creating a specific flavor. I know about the success and failure of cloned liquids. It could be any possible combination of things - a lottery of sorts. I've read a lot of threads on these and it's discouraging when I think of my own attempt to do so.
Having said that, I bought 4 flavors to start. I look at each one and open them, smell them and immediately I can tell I'm not even in the right ballpark. I'm not saying there isn't a chance that one or more of these might be decent once mixed, but I know I don't have what I need to make my target liquid. I don't know what I expected and this all might sound foolish but Im hoping there's a way that one of the more experienced members here can point me in the right direction.
I made these purchases after a lot of reading on the forum. The trouble is that words aren't the same as senses. Tasting and smell as well as verbiage are entirely subjective to the individual. I'll do my best to describe what I'm trying to do.
Original Liquid:
Seller: SmokefreeOnline and Dodge Vapor
Flavor Name: Cigar
Color: Clear to slightly yellow color (slightly yellow in higher nic content -12mg vs 6mg, 6mg is clear)
Approximate Mix Ratio: 50/50 (based on look of original liquid and many purchases)
Actual Flavor: Similar to 555's I've tried, only with heavier throat hit, less nutty, a hint of sweet, and hint of a peppery taste that gives that cigar sort of burn in the flavor.
Smell: Can't explain it, it's that complex and unlike anything else
Origin: Chinese Manufactured (unknown vendor)
Note that when purchased at 6mg or with 0mg nic, the flavor is no where close to being as enjoyable as at least 12mg. It vapes like a watered down "diet" version of the higher nic content bottles. The nicotine gives it a peppery sort of addition, a bite so to speak.
If you go their website, it is still offered but I'm pretty sure this is a newer mix and it isn't the same. Also, it runs for about $2 per mil which I won't spend on principle. I was buying from a re-seller who discounted when selling to me, but then stopped doing business with them.
Here are the flavorings I started with:
Inawera Cuban Cigar - TA
Cohiba
Hangsen Desert Ship
Cigar Passion - FA
Being that the flavor was originally Chinese, I went down the road of buying several different Hangsen and Dekang flavors before making these buys and none of them were even remotely close nor had a similarity to this liquid. I bought the flavors above at first simply bc they were cigar/tobacco types. I still intend to to mix them up for variety and curiosity sake. I have one more flavor arriving on Monday which is also a cigar flavor and members noted that it is clear and remains clear after mixing/steeping (Havana Cigar - FW).
Any thoughts appreciated.
