I just got an e-power after starting with blus and convenience store stuff. I love the battery power but I am confused about cartos. I got some 510 Mega Dual Coil Cartomizers 1.5 Ohm with it too - these seem to produce a really hot unpleasant vapor, and not much of it. The cartridges that came with it produce a lot of cool vapor, but it seems like I have to refill them every ten hits or I get that nasty burning atomizer taste. It seems like they are only frying the juice that is right on top of the atomizer and not wicking anything from the rest of the filler. Am I doing something wrong? If I could get some decent performance out of them I would be in love with this thing!

IMO Learn on standard resistance Boge cartos with thin juice (I use 80PG/20VG - no more VG than that). Once you have the hang of them, you may like the 2.0 ohm hotter Boge cartos - very popular on the big batteries. There is a reason Boge cartomizer are the most popular ones on 510-threaded devices. They work well.

THEN try harder cartomizers. And you are not the only one who has had those kinds of problems with those cartos.

---
How I fill a cartomizer (Vapor4Life for KR8 or Boge 510 for 510 which are all soft-cap w/ no inner seals and defined central air channel)

I use thin (20% or less VG) liquid or Vapor4Life WOW liquids, preferably clear liquids w/ no sediment

Filling a blank carto - I pop off the soft cap (unbent paperclip carefully in the mouth hole, not catching any wires or stuffing!). I hold some tissue against the threaded end hole. I tilt the carto and slowly drip 18 drops onto the inner wall of the carto so it slides down into the stuffing while I rotate the carto. Then I wait 15 seconds or so then I drip however many more drops the stuffing wants to soak up. Then I do clean-up. If it is leaking, I clean that up. Then I tilt the open end down into the tissue and puff hard a few times into the threaded end to clear any juice out of the central air channel (I want to see light through there). If it looks too wet above the stuffing, I gently touch a bit of tissue to the stuffing (otherwise that liquid will be gurgling or spitting in my mouth). Then since this was a fresh fill of a blank, I now let it settle. I lay the carto on different sides for 15-20 minutes. Then it should be ready to vape. If you use thicker juices than me, then you may need to let it settle longer.

As I am vaping - if the vapor gets a bit light or a bit dry or tastes bit off or the carto is getting unusually warm, I will take the carto off the battery, open it, add 6-8 drops or whatever it seems to want (I will either hold a bit of tissue against the threaded end hole just in case, or skimp on how many drops I add to make sure I avoid drips if I have no tissue). I check to make sure the threaded end is dry, give it a couple of puffs into the threaded end to make sure the air channel is clear, and continue to vape.

Note - it is easy for me to "open" my main cartos for adding juice because I replace the white end cap with a plastic or delrin drip tip (I get them at LiteCigUSA.net). So I can easily pull that out with my fingers when I add juice and it keeps my lips cool if the carto is hot.

between here and there
Hi and welcome to ecf.
the 1.5ohm is very low resistance and therefore made to run very hot......try a cartomizer that is around 2.50 and you will see a difference. The carts that came with the kit do not hold very much so refilling often is needed to not get the burnt taste.
Hope this helps.
:)

Welcome, s_j! The e-power batt is more powerful than minis like Blus and vapes juice faster and hotter. I noticed same thing when I upgraded to a bigger batt...even miss the cooler vape from minis sometimes.

The carts do not hold much and the stock filler even withholds juice, would only give you a few puffs. I stand the e-cig batt end down to help juice flow, but also replaced filler with blue foam (fit more juice in cart) and get about 1 hr per. Cartos could/should hold more juice, but you may need better cartos as others suggested.

Thanks for the feedback! I guess some trial and error is to be expected. It seems that one problem was that I was over-juicing the cartos, they were sizzling and popping like bacon! Now I am getting more vapour and less bacon... speaking of which, anyone ever seen a bacon flavoured juice? BTW, I am using mainly Johnson Creek juice.

The vapour is still a bit hot harsh and thin, but getting better. I will definitely try the other recommended cartos. I love the battery and switch on this thing, even though I had to go through a rash of defective parts until I got a good unit. The vendor was quite good about squaring me away though, so all's well that ends well.

Step #1 keep the atomizers that came with your e-power, but toss the cartridges.
Step #2 buy a drip tip.
Step #3 enjoy the wonderful world of vaping.

There are a lot of ways to skin this cat, so don't over buy on anything until you know what you like.
And, you might just as well have a bit of fun with it along the way.

Right now my e-power has a 2 ohm Boge carto on it (my morning coffee vape).
Last night it had a 1.5 ohm 306 atty on it (my evening brandy vape)

Lots of good advice already and I'd like to add a couple more suggestions for you to experiment with. 1. use your button as heat controller. Learn how take a very slow drag, but experiment with letting off the button before you finish. The coil will still produce vapor after you let up. 2. If you've just filled up, take short, fast puffs that you don't inhale to test for vapor production. If it isn't there, check for too dry or flooded. 3. on inhale, open your mouth a little or a lot--experiment with that.
    4. lift your tongue every once in awhile to get more taste.

Take a look at the ce2s. If you can deal with them, the 2.4 to 2.6 ones provide a very nice vape on both 3.4 and 3.7 batteries imo. I deal with them in two ways. I take out all the top plugs, fill by dripping down the side of the ceremic, leave out the notched plug and put the thin plug back in on top the ceremic, pop on a mouth piece and vape. For dripping I leave all plugs out and pop on a drip tip and vape. The reason I go through the hassle of dealing with them is bacause nothing singes in them. You can get a terrible hit from flooding or dry of course, but nothing is singed. Btw, your e-power cone will fit over the clearos.

I prefer the xl dual coil cartos over the mega dual coil cartos. I think the draw is harder and you get less flavor with the EMDCC. Or the 2.0 boge, or even the echo-e cartos. Not a fan of 3.0 SR cartos.

I think my current favors are the 1.7 Resurrector cartos from CCV. Love these!

Hmm i might have to try these out on a provari at 3.7-4.2 volts. Sounds like they work awesome. I personally love Boge cartomizers.

Did you get those new CE2's (which are actually pre-release CE3's) (Gotvapes calls them Deluxe Fluxomizers) They have the new semi-clear plastic which supposedly will not break or crack or leak. I ignored the CE2's - didn't feel like screwing with the cracking and falling apart. But I bought a pack of the new ones to try.

So bacon smoke exists, and is theoretically healthier than bacon OR smoking! I need to get me some, because I am making a real mess in the kitchen trying to pour that grease from the pan to the carto :p

Yes Bacon juice exists, it just doesn't taste like bacon, in most cases the smell of the juice will escape from your sealed bottle and effect your flavor perception of other juices in your stash, and overall is rarely palatable or enjoyable.

Been vapin nothing but: 50/50 or > % VG Cinnamon DIY e-liquid, in C-E2 Clearo's, atop either 14650, or 18650 NoEgo/ePower's, for more than a couple weeks. I'm simply thrilled with this set up. Before NoEgo/ePower's. . .wondered what the heck I was going to do with more than a gross of C-E2 Clearo's. JMHO

    Cheers,
