Hello vapers!

I am desparate to stop smoking and I plan on vaping and it WILL WORK. I just need some guidance and good advice.

I have been doing my own research and feel like banging my head against a brick wall. I don't understand all the terminology of the products and parts and what goes with what. I am more confused than when I began and I am so keen to order a decent product and start asap.

I am English but live in Turkey (postal service is horrendous and usually intercepted) but will get my Mum to purchase it for me in England and bring over so info on what I need to buy and how often parts etc need replacing so I can plan ahead would be excellent to know.

What I want:

A battery that lasts a long time and a capacity to use all day. I don't want to have to pull it apart and fiddle about, it has to be simple and convenient. I would like a good amount of vapour and would like refills or liquids (whatever they need) to be good value. I would like it as cheap as possible but willing to pay for quality and something to suit my requirements.

Help much appreciated :)

Hi Pink....

Can you give us/me some idea of your smoking habits. This will help in deciding what might suit you.

I posted on another thread, but would be happy to keep going on here.....

I just want to help in the hope that people don't make the same mistakes I did, and wasting money.....

If you are going to get a kit from the UK, you'll need to plan ahead. For example, batteries can't last forever and you are going to get through carts very quickly. You will need to buy e-liquid unless you plan on bulk buying months and months of carts.

A simple (but not disposable/cheap style) will NOT last a whole day. However, you can carry a PCC and charge one whilst using another.
Potentially, you could carry 3 carts in the case and swap them over as you need.

What you would need to do is invest 10 minutes at some point during the day to fill you carts, and charge the case 4 times a week (could be more, could be less).

However, a big device can easily last a whole day and a 1 minute fill with juice can last for days...

I smoke 20-30 regular cigarettes a day at the moemnt (without tring to cut down). I am happy to have a bigger device, not bothered about appearance, it's important that it lasts the day with minimal fuss or have to do too much to the device myself, once a day filling and charging sounds great to me.

Prepared to buy the parts/spares and liquids in bulk to keep it working as I am abroad.

Thanks ever so much for taking time to reply :)

You have multiple problems to deal with here. If delivery is an issue getting juice is going to be difficult as well. And yet you don't know what you're going to like the taste of yet. I assume UK-to-Europlug adapters aren't hard to come by.

My suggestion would be to get an 1100mAh eGo (basic model for reliability, not the VV) and a selection of about 20 different juices, 10ml of each. That should get you started. Then learn to DIY the juice as you get into it further.

Make sure you get a few atomizers and a dozen or so carts as spares.

Getting parts or the juice, I go to the UK every 4-5 months. I just want to be prepared on what spare parts I am likely to need. I am going to stock up on lots of juices. I have lots of plug adaptors so no problem there.

Do you know how often on average a carts and atomizers last?

Thank you for your help.

Hello Pink diamond :)

At the moment, one of the best deals going is this kit from ecig Wizard -Use discount code ECR for 12.5% off

Premium eGo Style Starter Kit

You just need to buy some e-liquid to go with it & a drip tip to make the cartomisers more comfortable to use :)

Atomizers don't burn out often, but they can become nasty due to burnt matter stuck to them. I haven't replaced one yet but I've only been vaping about a fortnight. The Type A carts I use with the 501-T are still usable after 10 refills. The eGo uses Type B I believe (someone correct me if I got that wrong!) and they're very similar. You can also get tanks once you find a juice you like, wouldn't bother before that because the carts are much easier to clean and refill to try different juices out.

L&B 0.9mg is very light - at least by Australian standards - so you should get away with 12mg/ml or even lower strength juice.

With the Viva do I need to fill carts or the atomizer? Sorry, I really am a novice.

I smoke Lambert & Butler silver, says on the side of a 20 pack: 0.9g Nicotine if that helps?

OK, helpful.

So, 20-30 @ 0.9mg is 18-27mg per day.

Although it's not an exact science (I am working on it :)) you won't be able to swap to minis without vaping A LOT, or you will get withdrawal.

If you consumed 1ml juice @ 24mg/ml PER DAY, you'd be undercutting your daily intake. Some people say 40%, but in reality that would probably do it.

Having heard all the information, I'd say using minis was going to be a bit of a gamble. Good 510 carts can hold 1-2ml of juice, so one cart could last all day, but the battery won't so you'd need to carry a PCC. (Personal charging case).

I think you should get (to start) 2 x big batteries and some carts, and a clearomiser and charging lead/case. You WILL be able to get all that in a KIT.

Now, the difficult bit.

Aiming for 1ml per day, you are going to need 4 x 30ml bottles of juice to last 4 months. It doesn't matter if you fill a cart or a clearomiser with juice (the clearomiser is far superior, in my opinion) but either way, you will need a big order of e-liquid. Also, the batteries may not necessarily do 4 months, although there are reports of people getting 6 months out of a PAIR going more than 1ml/day of juice.

So,

I would aim for

1) a good quality kit with all the stuff.
2) a selection of e-liquid....I'd would get lots of different flavours (as much as it makes sense, from a financial view).
and probably 3) 2 spare batteries.

Definitely start on 24mg juice. Long term, 18mg should be OK, especially with lots of vape!

I use all my carts, my clearomiser (included) and all my e-liquids. I only had to give up on a flavour once (a tobacco one) and threw the trial cart away.

Basically, your initial investment is going to be quite a lot (easily £100+) but if you are committed, you'll do it.

I'm off out. Keep asking away.

Agreed. If you want to stick with carts, you can go a long time on even a few. If one cart can last a day and you re-fill it 10+ times, that's only 3 per month.

I prefer a tank

Mini Nova £10.95 - Vaping Spares - Tanks & Accessories Electronic Cigarettes | Vaping Devices | Accessories | E-Liquid

but it will be a pain to change flavours, as haiqu rightly says. Also, I don't know how long they last without replacing the heads.

Yes, well, I have that kit (on recommendation) and it's good, but also early days.

You'll need a usb-mains adapter to suit your region (I already have some from other devices) unless you have a computer on all the time. :(

If you added, say 4 x 5 empty (blank) carts to fill with liquid you'd then have the hardware to do months, for sure.

Guessing which flavour liquid is tough. I mostly mix tobacco-type with others. For example, my clearomiser is 1/2 Vanilla, 1/4 Virginia and 1/4 Desert Ship (Dekang). 100% Vanilla is too sweet, 100% cappuccino is also hard work. I have a cart with 100% cherry and it's also OTT.

I'm getting 10 samples from VapeEscape in the next day or so, including caramel, lemon, apple/tabac, GY4, whiskey cream.....

I'll let you know what is good. Most liquids can be "calmed down" with either tobacco or vanilla.

If I was getting that kit (long distance, without being able to get stuff for months) I'd add 3 or 4 clearomisers and hope to see all 6 months without resorting to carts permanently. Carts are good, don't get me wrong, but for flavour and not needing to top up, a "tank" of liquid is the best. I put 1.6ml in mine on Friday and it's 3/4 gone. That means I'm not vaping 1ml a day, which also means I'm getting less nicotine than planned without withdrawal, so that's a bonus.

Made the leap, just purchased 2 x Riva 1100 Deluxe Kits, 5 x 30ml juices, 2 x kanger 2.4ml tanks, 2 x drip tips and a main adapter. Bought the 2 kits as then I have a complete back up.

Hopefully it will be delivered asap and I can get it brought over here to Turkey on the 26th of this month, really can't wait :)

I'm seding you a virtual drink for being so kind, hepful and informative :)

If you smoke 1-1-1/2 packs of 0.9 mg nic per day that would come out to a nic level of approx. 18-24mg. nic

(you multiply 0.9 x 20 for a pack of 20 cigs, and 0.9 x 30 cigs for 1-1/2 packs. )

your mileage may vary. Some people find that vaping they get more nic than with smoking, so you might want to start w/24, see if you get dizzy or head rush, then 18mg, and keep some 14 or 12 around (just a bottle or 2) just in case?
