Help With First Purchase

Hi, I've recently switched over to e-cigs and haven't smoked a proper cig for just over 2 weeks. I've been using disposables up until now but it's starting to get expensive so looking to switch to one of the refillable models.

I've spent a couple of hours reading around this (very helpful) forum, and am looking at buying these:

Mini Protank 2 Starter kit from myepack
1000 Evod battery from myepack
(tried to post links but looks like I can't)

Does this look like a good starting setup? Anything else I should be looking at, in the way of alternatives or additional accessories?

Thanks.

What little experience that I have, I would say it would be ok. I currently have an eGo-C with a mini kanger tank. It has the bottom wicks and you can change out the atomizer. I would make sure that you can change your coils out. the first tank i had was disposable and not very cost effective. It also helps to buy a pass through battery. you can charge and smoke at the same time. Hope this helps. Good luck and stick with it.

I would suggest an ego type battery that is variable voltage so you can adjust your power. As far as atomizer tanks go, there are so many. someone else will chime in i am sure as to what you might want to get..

Thanks. I'm guessing I can pick up a variable voltage battery on its own at a later date if necessary?

That looks like a good kit. The Mini Protank is a good atomiser and the EVOD range is good too.

Personally, I tend to avoid the EVOD batteries, for the simple and trivial reason that the button is flush. When I pick it up to vape, I always have to search for it. For that reason I would suggest you go with a Vision Spinner as your second battery. It's more money but it has a higher capacity and it is variable voltage; you can experiment with how different power levels affect the taste. And the button is easy to find. The same charger will work with both makes. But if you're not willing to put the money down now, you can always get one later.

My work colleague just picked up a Mini Protank after using what I think is a Vivid. He found the open draw difficult to get used to. So be aware of that. Cig-a-likes are designed to mimic cigarettes, but more advanced e-cigs are used with a longer but more gentle draw than you may be used to.

ETA: Fasttech are a wonderful company, but they take around a month to deliver to the UK. Added to which, you have to be careful that you are getting an authentic product and not a cheap knock-off. I wouldn't recommend them for a starter-kit when you've got no experience about what to expect and no backup if it turns out to be rubbish.

Thanks very much, I will bear in mind the different type of draw from the disposable.

Also don't really want to wait a month for delivery, so would prefer to go with the myepack kit for now. Also, would I not also need to buy a separate drip tip if I ordered from Fasttech?

That's good that the Vision Spinner uses the same charger, I may look at getting one of those further down the line.

Btw, I read your blog on how to start vaping earlier, was very helpful, thanks.

any newbie or veteran should always have a spare battery and a spare wall charger, and spare clearo tanks...fixed battery is fine, no need for a variable volt...but I do recommend 1100-1300a batteries for all day vaping..and also should have a few spare tanks or some cheap disposeable CE4' clearomizers in a pinch..U can get 10 CE4 for $15 on ebay, and a 1300a battery for $10 or less..

Thanks.

Awesome Nibbsy. Great starting place.

Which brand got you? For me it was expensive, OH YEH, £400+ spent on those useless pieces of placebo vanity.

I love myepack, for many things.

I'm from Guildford... don't live there anymore though...

Guildford is the home of Vapouriz...another bunch of*deleted*.

:)

edit 1) you could get an iTasteVV instead of the 1100 evod. Worth the extra £10.

edit 2) I use Fasttech. Takes bloomin' ages. You've got to plan ahead with stuff from there, better to get into that once you're up and running.

Hey, thanks very much. Yeah the petrol station here just got a whole load of Vapouriz stuff and were trying to sell it to me yesterday. Decided to come home and do some research first, and from what I've read I'm glad I did.

I've been using Gamucci for a couple of weeks. They're ok and have stopped me smoking, but yeah, so expensive. Would be nice if I can still use the Gamucci chargers for the Protank though, do you know if this is possible?

I will look up the iTasteVV batteries, thanks. Does myepack sell them?

Yep I may start using Fasttech once I'm set up, just for buying spares etc.

Edit: while I'm here, where is the best place for buying liquids in the UK?

I would say that getting a vv or vw device now would be a good start. If youre anything like me where you like to fidget with things its good at keeping you occupied. Also most people eventually go that route. I also find that even if you want it a 3.7 volts and nothing more they tend to be a bit more consistent. Also consider this you change juices and you find that the new juice isnt getting enough flavor or similar being able to adjust the power can really come in handy.

I would shy away from the Protank 2 myself. Too many posts on here about problems with them leaking. Look into the Anyvape Mini Davide tanks instead. They work very well and none of my 3 have ever leaked or had any problems at all.

Ah well I have ordered the Protank now. I guess I'll just see how I get on and switch if it leaks etc. Thanks for the suggestions though.

I'll echo what djsvapour says above - have a look at the iTaste VV3 (variable voltage/variable wattage) - they're easy to use and I love mine. Myepack have them at £29.99 including 5 x iClear16 dual coil clearomisers

That sounds good. I'll see how I get on with the Protank and bear the iTaste in mind if I don't get on with the Protank. Cheers.
