We aren't saying "don't get the tank" just get some cartos too. If you have problems with the tank system, you won't be dealing with nic fits while fiddling with the tank. Some swear by the ego tanks, some have problems with leaks and dry hits.

I'm lazy. I use cartos for my main vape(90% of my intake) and drip on attys for my occasional flavor change hit and for my WTA.

All excellent recommendations. These brands/styles of eCigs rock. You can't go wrong with any of them and you'll find you'll be back asking about a second backup kit anyway. My advice? Pick one of the ones suggested (any of them), sit back and relax with your vape as you research even more. There are so many of them out there, and so many ways to vape them. Just get a kit, get started, then go crazy with decisions.

If you're a 1 pack a dayer, then go with the Volt. It's really easy to set up and vape when the clock chimes.
If you're a 2 pack a dayer, then go with the eGo. You'll be charging less often.

Then get both anyway.
The sealed drip resistant Automatic Volt handles those hands free times, those coffee cup moments, and the "holding" habit, quite well. It's a regulated 3.7v vape which means you'll get a good vape each and every time. Recharge about every 3.5 hours.
The eGo is tops battery and charging batteries wise, and you can get a good 6-8 hours between charges. You can use tanks, and EMDCC's and all kinds of goodies on your eGo. (especially great for long excursions away from chargers).

If you're at the computer a lot, then I would suggest a PT (passthrough).
The eGO PT lets you vape while it's charging as well as unplugged. Can't go wrong with an eGo PT!
The Volt PT lets you vape while it's plugged in.

Good luck!!

...of all the good advice already given on this thread, this is about the best bottom line advice you can get...personally, I think the Riva is the least you should go with, followed by the KGO and then the E-Power...these can all be had and you vaping for around 50USD...after these, you get into the true confusing world of mods and variable voltage gear..........
madjack:2cool:

p.s. for myself personally, because of performance issues, there are no ciggy sized units I would own..........mj

I started out with the Joye 510 kit from Cignot. They are about the same size as cigarette and they have cool little LED lights. I got one automatic and one manual to see what I liked best...if you go with the 510 I would suggest getting one of each like I did. Turns out I didn't mind pushing the button. This deal worked for me for about 2 weeks before I decided this was going to work and I needed longer battery life so then I got the eGo manual starter kits. And I am still using the eGos. I get my batteries and my starter kits from Cignot ®. Can't beat their shipping and their service. For juice I do Mad Vapes.

Keep in mind that you will probably vape more than you smoke and you will vape more than you think you will..especially in the beginning. Also, remember that at first while you are trying to find what works for you, and what you like best, you will spend more money vaping (at first though) than you did smoking. Once you find your method you will then see savings.

One more hint: when buying juice by all different levels of nicotine to see what works the best. It's hard to find a nic level at first that will work for you while you are giving up smoking.

Good luck to you! You found a great place for answers.

It sounds like you want a cigarette looking type device, which most of the recommendations in this thread aren't. One of the first replies recommends a box mod?

To answer your question, one of the best options would be a KR808D-1. Visit vapor4life and get a starter kit and some pre-filled cartomizers. If you feel comfortable refilling the cartomizers, get a bottle of liquid or two and some empty cartomizers to try filling your own (which is a cheaper long term option).

Ignore everyone who is pushing these bigger devices on you, they've forgotten what it's like to make the switch to vaping. There are plenty of people who still use cigarette looking devices after a year or two of vaping. If you decide to go for a bigger device down the track, you'll have plenty of options that will be compatible with the vapor4life gear.

Most of all enjoy vaping and everything that comes with it. If your using it as a way to quit nicotine all together, good luck, lots of people only require vaping for a few months. For others vaping is a lifestyle which they have no intention of ever quitting. Either way, it's a better option than traditional cigarettes.

I agree with everything but the vapor4life part <- that's a US site and although i'm positively certain they have great kits the shipping from US to UK would be just silly.

Missed the UK part, so probably not the best option. I guess my point is that cigarette looking devices are frowned upon around here, yet there are some really good devices in this category. Most people who start vaping don't have the intention of vaping forever, but they're getting advice from people who have no intention of quitting.

I think KR808's are a great starting option, I don't like so many people bagging them for crappy reasons. I read someone say you can't get decent throat hit from a cig looking device, which is absolute garbage.

I guess I'm outnumbered here, but I kicked myself for getting the longer lasting battery type. I went back a week later and got a cig sized one, instead

Decent cig sized devices are a great introduction to vaping. Sure, there are crappy cig sized PV's, just like there are crappy box mods.

LOTS of different tips and opinions. Take them all in and learn ... but ultimately remember that you can find something that suits you in particular and make it work.

After lots of research I put my eGo on the shelf and decided that I enjoyed the smaller e-cig feel and went with a mini Bloog set up. Yes, I have a tiny e-cig, and I rotate batteries A LOT. But I don't mind it. Sure, I'd love it if they had a smaller battery that lasted longer, but so far no go. So I've made my own rotation routine.

I also started out with atomizers and cartridges .. then started dripping and using drip tips and low resistance atomizers. Ultimately cartomizers worked out (by far) the best for me. Actually, I'm not even sure why a person new to vaping would want to go the atomizer + cartridge route when the cartomizers are re-usable, last far longer, taste better to me (less back drip), and are far easier.

I guess it goes back to what I said at first. If you can imagine a set up that you'd like, chances are you can find (or put together) something that works.

Like you I'm new. I started with a gas station model then bought a Joye 510. It came with atomizers but I quickly invested in cartomizers. Better throat hit, easier to use and it lasts me 2 - 3 days before I have to refill.

The battery is the size of a cigarette which is also something I wanted. I only have to recharge 1 - 2 days.

I haven't smoked since I got it. I smoked about 10 analogs a day. I do about 40 vapes a day now.

How are you only at 40 vapes a day?! I was a 1.5 pack a day smoker and I was going through 4-5 ml of non WTA liquid.....

I can definitely relate to the OP, when I first stumbled up on this site while researching which kit to buy for my first e-cig it was completely daunting. Ohms, Mahs, Volts, VV, PV, PG, VG...I was so confused. I made it a point to learn all of these things, and am still learning of course.

My first purchase was the Volt. I got my mother and my sister and brother in law all on them now too :D. They work really well, but now I am looking into longer battery life. I will still use these of course, especially on the go, they are nice and small and last me a couple hours.

Keep reading and learning and really the only way to find out what is going to work for you is to try it, and the recommendations in this thread are excellent!! Wish you the best!
