I just got a ProTank yesterday and today, as my juice got low my tank is also gurgling. I read somewhere that this tends to happen when the juice gets low and that the tank should be kept filled. So I filled up my tank again and it no longer gurgles - I think it has something to do with the pressure in the tank.

FWIW, the T3 had the exact same issue - some would probably say, "it's just the nature of the beast" and I tend to believe that they're correct. Just like the fact that bottom coil clearos are sensitive to temperature changes (causes gurgling/flooding).
I guess you deal with the issues, or go to top coil clearos and adapt the tilt'n'whirl dance to keep the wicks and coil saturated :)

The thing with bottom coils gurgling and flooding is pressure and how many wicks you have. If your liquid is 50-50 or above, and you've removed wicks, I suggest you put a little of silica above the coil and reassemble. That should take care of it. If the gurgling comes when the level is too low, blow into a napkin from the bottom. That increases pressure and enables you to vape it almost dry.

Pressure is the answer, actually negative pressure. Anyway, if you just have to run it down low, take it off the PV, invert it and open/close the bottom cap to equalize the pressure in the tank.
I do this with my EVODs and Protank...I have jokingly started calling it 'burping' it. But, like you said its just equalizing the pressure a bit. Funny thing is though if I have my juice bottle handy, instead of 'burping' it, I just fill it up.

This happened to me too! Well before it got low, but, to be fair, I was on a long car ride with no A/C, 100+ degree weather and my filled tank got pretty warm. Walked into a well air conditioned casino for a while then back into the heat. Long story short, the changes in pressure from the temperature HAD to be the culprit.

I thought it was just a defective head at first but she's vaping like a dream again after cleaning it out!

The base makes the difference in my experience. I purchased 5 spare bases and testing them side by side I have one that leaks after a while, one that has a too light draw and harsh taste, and a couple that are just perfect. I didn't take a close look as to why but I can only guess it's due to variations in machining.
