The base makes the difference in my experience. I purchased 5 spare bases and testing them side by side I have one that leaks after a while, one that has a too light draw and harsh taste, and a couple that are just perfect. I didn't take a close look as to why but I can only guess it's due to variations in machining.

Did you buy the Kanger replacement bases, or a different brand? I am going crazy with leaking from a ProTank2 that I switched out the pyrex glass (to a cool purple one...) - I'm wondering what the heck I am doing wrong, have tried switching the pyrex to either side.... I started putting just a tiny bit of liquid in (because I am tired of cleaning up and wasting juice)...but now maybe I am wondering if that is the problem? Thanks....

The thing with bottom coils gurgling and flooding is pressure and how many wicks you have. If your liquid is 50-50 or above, and you've removed wicks, I suggest you put a little of silica above the coil and reassemble. That should take care of it. If the gurgling comes when the level is too low, blow into a napkin from the bottom. That increases pressure and enables you to vape it almost dry.

I don't understand what is meant by "put a little silica above the coil and reassemble". Where do you get silica (is that like caulking stuff?) and where on the head exactly. Sorry....I am sure many know what you mean, but I don't! Also, a few times I have tried that blowing into a napkin, and lost a shizitload of juice - like it almost poured out, and kept coming out. Everything is/was tight. Using min 50/50 - but usually about 65/35 juices.

Silica wick, sold at vape stores and online. He's essentially saying if you removed the two flavor wicks previously, you might need to put them back to stop the flooding.

Search silica wick, you will see it. It's like string. A quick and dirty fix some people actually prefer is plain old cotton, from some 100% cotton balls at your local drug store.

Pull a small bit, roll it between fingers and place it ontop of the coil.

If you have removed and cleaned an atomizer you will understand where it goes. If not, go search a video on cleaning a protank attomizers. It shows the disassembly.

But this would also mean you didn't remove any wicks.

My personal experience, I've had one gurgle/ flood issue on my mini protank. The atomizer for whatever reason just did it. I took it out set it aside and tried another and it was fine. Ive noticed recently If I leave juice ( like bobas bounty ) in the tank overnight it can leach into the tube and gurgle. I either take it out and dab it to soak up some juice, or lightly blow down the draw tube. Not mouth around it though, like your blowing across a coke bottle to make noise. Just enough to pop the juice film in the tube and push it lightly back down n the coil. Just a pfft. Hits fine after that.

I'm curious how you made out. I'm having problems with all 3 of my Protanks. Both versions 1 & 2. The only thing that is stopping it now is replacing the atomizer. But this is only after a week or so, then they start leaking badly. I actually get a tongue full of juice. Then I'll blow into a napkin and juice will spray out. I can actually empty the tank if I try. I have taken them apart, cleaned and soaked as instructed. This last time, I actually took the atomizer apart and soaked all those pieces, then I let the wicks dry out. Still I get this. I have replaced the bases on them...no difference. The only thing that stops it is a new atomizer. I must be doing something wrong.

I just got a 5 pack of heads from FT in the mail today. I've been rebuilding the two I've had for the last month. I thought is try a new one to see how it worked compared to my builds. Tasted like burnt dog shizzle on the first vape. They're 2.5 ohm heads since I use them on my MVP. I couldn't vape at 4 volts w/o the burnt taste. Took off the rubber cap from the stem. Pulled the wick. Then added cotton. Now it vapes like a champ. I've never had gurgling problems with cotton.

Got a protank 3 on the way. Wanting to try an iclear. I cant vape over about 4 watts on my mini protank on stock coils with my SVD or it taste like burnt nasty. Then I have to torch off my flavor wicks to remove the crud. At least that's the case with my main juice. Some juice I can crank up a bit. I do like the cotton. Couple of bucks and you got all the wick you need.
