Argh, so my cat knocked my mod stand off an end table the other day. Thankfully nothing was too damaged, except for the tanks on the 3 tallest mods in the stand. I'm assuming they were first to hit the floor. It's a kayfun light kayfun 3.1 and a kayfun 3.1 clone (I love my kayfuns!)All 3 tanks have the Pyrex in the middle and what appears to have happened is when they hit the floor, the Pyrex slipped one threading in the stainless steel. The clones threading clearly isn't as well machined as the 2 real kayfuns so I was easily able to snap the Pyrex back into its proper threading. Unfortunately though the real tanks I can't budge! (Probably the only time I'll complain about really high quality threading LOL!)The 3.1 seems to still work but the poor KF light won't pressurize now and leaks whenever I fill it. I have tried everything I can think of to unscrew the Pyrex: rubber gloves, running the SS under hot water, you name it. I've even raised blisters on my thumb from trying to pry the two pieces apart :(I have full clear tanks in the mail but I'd still love to salvage the original SS/Pyrex tank pieces if possible.Any ideas on how I can separate them would be much appreciated! At this point I'm seriously thinking of trying to break the Pyrex part with pliers and just using the full SS tank. It sucks having such an awesome tank sitting useless because I can't set the Pyrex in the right threading :(

I had that happen to my Evic where it fell and managed to pop the ring on top one thread off track. I tried everything to get the two sections apart, but nothing seemed to work.

I managed to fix it by taking the Evic head with the stuck ring in place, and sticking it in my vise. I stuck in in there with the "high side" (the side that was popped out of it's threading) between the two jaws of the vise. Just a couple of slow twists of the vice and "POP", it slipped back into the threads. The same type thing might work for your Kayfun tank.

If you don't have a vise, try placing it on end on your kitchen counter or sturdy table and pushing it back together again very slowly until it pops back into place.

Actually the vise suggestion gave me an idea, and it worked!!!

Since I wasn't really concerned about scratching either the SS or the Pyrex at this point (since they were fused together and I'd already ordered a full unibody tank), I took 2 pairs of pliers. I wrappers both parts of the tank with rubber bands to protect them from the pliers, then grabbed the SS w one pair, and the Pyrex with the other pair.

Totally didn't think it'd do anything other than scratch the heck out of the tanks but hallelujah! I was able to twist the Pyrex off the SS section on the kayfun light.

I AM SO HAPPY! I thought I'd be stuck til the solid tanks arrived (another week) before I could use the KF again!

My cats back in my good graces again too ;)
