You have a lot of research to do.

Mechanical mods have no protective circuitry like your regulated VV/VW mods have, so you must practice safe vaping habits continuously. Use the safest batteries that you can find (high-drain, safe-chemistry).

With rebuildable atomizers, you will be wrapping your own coils, checking their resistance with a ohm reader or digital multimeter, making certain that the coil does not pull more amps than the battery is capable of. Wick material can be cotton, silica, ecowool, or stainless steel mesh depending upon the type of rebuildable. Wire gauges can vary depending upon the resistance and number of coils you wish to create. There are three main types of RBA's:

  • Rebuildable drip atomizers can only use a few drops of e-liquid at a time.
  • Genesis-style tank atomizers must be held upright or they can leak.
  • Kayfun-style tank atomizers are not position dependent, as they use negative pressure like a cartotank.

I suggest wrapping low ohm coils (0.8 - 1.5 ohm) initially and perfecting those before diving into sub-ohm territory. You can find plenty of coil builds and wick recommendations for whatever RBA you are interested in on YouTube. Research before you buy, and research again before you build.

That's a really big topic so I'll pass on some good resources for getting the knowledge you'll need to do this right.

Read all the battery stuff here and anything on RBAs, RDAs, etc.:
One Stop Reference Shop For New and Experienced Vapers

**Sub-Ohm Vaping** Discussion, Safety, Battery Info, & Warnings is a therad with some great info for mech mod use, battery safety and general info on coils making.

The Rebuildable Atomizer Systems sub-forum will answer all your questions on what is available with them.

Good luck with it enjoy the ride :thumb:

The Kayfun and Russian are great, but not ideal for sub-ohm. They are rebuildable tank atomizers. Even if you drill them out there is insufficient airflow in these for getting real big clouds. The Russian at 1.5 - 2 ohms is really great and convenient. What you get from them is ease of use and excellent flavor.

If you want to do sub ohm and blow clouds, get an RDA (Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer). Check out the videos by Rip Trippers, he has all kinds of fun coil builds and good reviews on the higher end RDAs.
