I just upgraded to an itaste mvp 2 and got a rba to go with it. the guy at the store sold me 24 gauge kanthal wire and some cotton, I go home and try to build a coil(my first attempt to build a coil) and my itaste wont read the ohms or fire. what am I doing wrong? what gauge wire? how many wraps? on how big of a drill bit? im trying to get clouds and flavor. please help!!

Luckily, you have your safety built-in due to the fact that you're using an MVP2, so there's no need to read you the riot act regarding batteries and blowing yourself up. And that mod will read your resistance (ohms) as well.

Whoever sold you the 24ga kanthal to build coils to be fired on that MVP2 is an idiot. I'd recommend staying away from that store for now.

Which RBA do you have? I can't give a great answer without knowing that, but I can tell you that your MVP2 won't fire below .8 ohms and you'd be way better off using 28ga kanthal for your first builds.

You also ideally don't want to fire that on an MPV as you'll put some serious hurt on the battery. As the others have said, you're going to want 32 gauge (I usually use 32 for microcoils on an MVP) or 30 gauge, and aim for 1.5Ohm or higher (I target 1.8-2). I'm almost afraid to hear what atomizer you were sold at this point.

Didn't know they made one of those. Dr. Google tells me it's a 3 - post RDA with one 1mm airhole. So only build one coil using the center post and either one of the side posts to attach your leads.

Do a search for "steam engine", it's a calculator that will assist you with coil building. 1.5 ohms is a good resistance to shoot for, get some 28/30/32 gauge Kanthal and try it out.

I have a Kayfun nano, two Kayfun Lites, a Magma, and a Caterpiller.

For the record, the caterpillar is such an awesome RDA that's affordable & authentic. There's things I'd tweak on it after using others for sure, but still, I've seen that thing as low as $7.50 on sale and it always feels SO good threading down.

ok...would you give me a little info on a micro coil? I used a 5/64" bit with 7 wraps on 30 g. Appreciate the help!

Here are a few links for you regarding building coils and getting the resistance just where you want it:

1. Steam Engine
2. Coil Toy Calculator

Nano coil - <1.4 mm in diameter
Micro coil - 1.4-1.65 mm in diameter
Standard coil - >1.65 mm in diameter

Susan & youtube are your friend here; you'll find lots of tutorials and if you follow them exactly and something is off, ask around on here. The idea behind them is they heat up very quickly with a bunch of surface area so you get a bunch of flavor --though they're great at lower voltages/wattages, so you generally do them at a higher Ohm, which is good for something like an MVP.
