Hello. This is my first rba, watched tons of videos on how to build them.

I'm getting really good flavor, says 2.1ohms. But I'm not getting nearly as much smoke as I think I should be getting. Or at least not as much as my Carto/tank setups.

What could I be doing differently to get more smoke?

Yes, the hole is in front of the coil.

^If the pic is not flawed there seems to be a short around ur 2nd & 3rd loop from the right. However, if ur Provari yet reads it (2.1ohms u said) then it should be fine.

1) If u wrap/pass the lifted end of the wicks right under coil, between the posts, ur coil gets to 'see' more juice, which helps in wicking and vapor production.

2) Also, if u r more on PG u r likely to get lesser vapor. However, with the usual PG/VG mix u must get good enough 'fog' from the IGO-L... it's a damn good RDA / fogging-machine! I'm on 70/30 PG/VG and see tons!

3) Then is the voltage. What V is ur Provari reading/setup? With 2.1ohms anything around 4-5v (+/-) should give u the best results, IMHO.

4) Reducing one or two loops would also help. Get it under 2ohms (1.7-1.8 is good).

Ok I'm going to try this. Is there anything bad with having too much wick? I mean can I have a long strand that runs under the coil in between the posts and one that sits on top of the coil also, as long as I'm leaving no blockage between the coil and air hole?

No issues. I keep my wicks long too. Unless they r 'flowering' all over - jamming the air chamber (within the steel cap) - u r good. The wise way, IMHO, is to keep the wick resting well within the juice well walls... entirely engulfed is fair enough too. Remember, it is the wick which'd be 'containing' the juice and pass it on to the coil.

I can't tell due to perspective but in the "wet" picture, is the wick in front of the coil blocking airhole?

In my experience almost any decent coil, with enough wick on the bottom of the atty and an unobstructed air hole should put out pretty damn good vapor. Especially on a provari where you can adjust the if your resistance is higher than planned.

I had an RBA that put out ZERO steam. Great flavor, TH. no steam. Turned out to be the juice. (Know the brand well, just this one flavor). I should say that the atomizer was prone to produce LESS steam than my others, and the juice: less. Together they got all exponential all over my ash and got to zero. Factors in mine were; small chamber and air passing almost under the coil instead of over it. You may also find that temperature is a factor. The more you vape, the hotter the atty, the less the steam.

yes. ↑ some of these IGO air holes are barely above the rim, and with that wick tail, even if your not blocking air flow, you are interfering. If the air is trying to go under the coil (same perspective of pic issue): now you've got air flow scattered by wick tail, swooping under the coil (which I think adds to the "heat" issues I mentioned above) and through the posts, hmmmmmmm. add to that an anemic juice and you've got a confluence of small factors

Yeah a lot of times the vertical placement of the coil get's overlooked. For the IGO-L I keep the coil pretty close to the base since the air-hole sits so low. Just the other day my IGO-S wasn't kicking out near the amount of vapor until I pushed the coil just a little bit up and then it worked great. The IGO-L I often push it a little down from where I start at to get more vapor.
