Greetings all!

Never thought that I would be getting into the rebuild side of things with the Aspire nautilus, but money is currently very tight... Anywho, I have followed Rip Trippers video and successfully rebuilt it. I did experience dry wicking after a while, but I was very proud with it considering that it was the first time I have ever rebuilt a coil.

I am having trouble getting anything above 1.3 ohms. I use 28 kanthal and typically 7-10 wraps using a 5/64 drill bit. But that seems ok, fires fine on my VTR.

My question is how tight should I twist the cotton for the wick? I tried keeping it as loose as it appears in the video, but couldn't thread it through the microcoil. So I had to twist it pretty tight. Once in the coil, should I untwist it? Will the "tightness" of the wick affect how much eliquid is absorbed?
Think I am going to try some medium Peaches and Cream white yarn. Any ideas on how many strands I should use? Using the rolled cotton I am also experiencing flooding, but dry wicking? It's almost as though the eliquid is missing the coil and seeping down. Any success in using the lower "notch" as opposed to the higher one that Rip Trippers uses?

Any tips or tricks you could give me that Rip Trippers may not have mentioned?

Once I feel comfortable with rebuilding the Nautilus I think that I will be getting the Kayfun.

Thanks all!

HAH! I rebuilt my Nautilus yesterday and trust me, the Kayfun is much easier. No need to get good at the nautilus. It was a ton of work for mediocre results in my case. I pulled out the liner and rebuilt with a stainless mesh sleeve. As for your questions you really shouldn't have to twist the hell out of a wick just to get it to fit. If that's the case, you have too much cotton.
