OK kids--an update! I just got an email from Aspire's Service Department. I can't copy and paste it here because it's against TOS, but I can share with you the gist of that message.
1) I'm being assured that there is no fiberglass in BVC coils. "For our BVC coils,we use a new composite material named ceramic fiber,it is not fiberglass. The name used in the certification is wrong, therefore,we remove it from our website to avoid any misunderstanding."
2) I am also told that they "add a layer of cotton on the surface of ceramic fiber, which has filtering effect and prevent customer from inhaling any material." Which, coincidentally, answers the question about the purpose of that screen--it's pretty clear to me that it has the same function as the layer of cotton, no matter what we've been told or assumed previously. That screen is not there to prevent juice getting into our mouths, folks.
3) Last but not least, the message assures me that "Now,we are talking with authoritative organizations to send our products for detection." So I hope that Aspire will, at some point, provide a new and improved answer to our questions. And hopefully some proof--like an independent lab test--preferably in English.
I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe something indeed was lost in translation.
If you like Aspire coils or would like to try them but are still on the fence, please send them an email and express your concerns. The more emails they get, the sooner they'll get motivated to act, methinks.

Thank you for all of your support. This thread will really come in handy to those out there concerned! I will be keeping my eye out on this thread. In the meantime, be careful folks..We don't know much about this material/coil head - or if its safe, honestly.
Have a good one! Cheers. Stay Safe!
