Hi guys,
I recently changed to e-ciggs rather than smoking for several reasons, and have tried e-ciggs off friends before.
I was looking to buy a nice e-cigg and just hoping that it will last, so i ended up deciding on the Riva-T
I did alot of researcha nd looking at review but couldnt find many things bad about it
Today it arrived and i was very excited, i charged up the battery and put in juice to the giantomizer. There was great vapour but it was intensely dry and burning. So i got home and searched it up
recommendations said to try dry burning or cutting the hole bigger it but im unsure if i can with this giantomizer, or im worried that it would ruin my giantomizer then i would have to go back to smoking until i get my new atomizer :x
any help would be appreciated!

Hi,

I got the same burned taste from a riva-t tank cartomizer, but I have read lots of good things about it in this forum... I had other cartomizers to use on my Riva battery, and have arcived the Riva-T tank cartomizer for now. There will probably be someone more experienced around to adwise on how to make it work better.
Just wanted to add that I now use the eGo Vision (AKA Stardust) tank cartomizer/ clearomizer on my Riva batteries (screws right on), and find them extremely easy to handle. They will not give me any burned/dry/rubber flavors at all.

P.S. Some of the e-juices that I have tried tasted so bad that I thought something was wrong with the caromizers, it was hard to tell before I had any idea of what I liked and what to expect.

I hope you get things to work out, and remember to always buy a backup or two. Cartomizers/ atomizers of (allmost) all kinds ARE in the end disposeables and can also be bad right out of the box.

Good luck - vaping is great!

I had a similar problem with my eGo-T. Lots of vapor, but yuck...nasty taste.

I think this is from the liquid not wicking properly to the atty. One of the things that helped was I played with how tight the atty was on the battery. Too tight and I think it blocks the air flow. Too loose and it gets too much (or it won't connect to the battery.)

I had two atomizers do this and eventually went with the Vision eGo Clearomizer which has been fantastic.

Hi. I bought two Riva-T cartomizers, and was pretty unhappy with the perfomance of the first one. I have not bothered to try the second one.

Mine was giving little vapor, and plenty of 'dry hits'. I figured that the wicks were pinched, so tried to find a way to get at them, and could not. The top silicone seal inside the unit is quite large, and wedged behind a flange rather securely. I figured that removing it would break the innards that it sealed against. I may give it a go, yet, I guess.

These things seem to be hit-and-miss on performance by the reviews that I've since read, and don't seem to be easily modifiable at all. For my wicking issue, I'm guessing I could drip one drop through the center hole in the gasket, directly onto the coil, but figured it might flood or leak through the air tube, so didn't bother. CE2 clearomizers are very similar, but smaller and more user-friendly, so I use them now.

Now, I'm a bit puzzled by your description of 'great vapour but it was intensely dry and burning'. The last part sounds like dry hits (not enough juice at the atomizer,) but in my experience you won't get much vapor with dry hits. I wonder if the juice may be bothering you.

Anyway, quick tip that could get you by until your replacement parts come: BLU e-cig cartomizers are sold in some stores like Walgreens, and work fine on 510 devices like the Riva. They are usually 5 for $15 and come in a very small box. If they weren't dried up when you bought them, they work fairly well, and can be topped off, too.

Riva-T's aren't easily modifiable. However, the Ego-W kits that're starting to pop up are essentially a Riva-T carto in outward looks... but you can supposedly dismantle the whole setup. (Note: I haven't tried this, as my Riva-T's seem to do fairly well for me most of the time.)

I would say that you want to avoid having juice in that center hole at all -- in my experience, it comes straight up the whistle tip, and you have a spontaneous case of burning lip/burning tongue. If you're having problems with dryness, you might want to use a liquid that's a little more fluid... seems to me that the higher the VG content, the harder it is to fill the durned things, and the dryer the hit seems to be. If you've got a sensitivity to PG, you might want to try thinning down your VG with a bit of water to see if that helps you out some.

as in the amount of vapour was spectacular, and the tank was filled to the top with fresh juice boguht from eastmall, ry4 18mg nicotine haha.
im considering dry burning it? just hot water and drying it off then restarting, but im not sure if it wuold ruin the giantomizer as it has a very different design to many other atomizers etc.
thanks everyone for the help! :) but problem still unsolved :(

I have an eGo-W and the F1 tank is wonderful. As for dissembly, you can take the housing off - the part that matches the battery - the cart inside? Never thought to try or even look that close. Now you have me curious. >going to try . . .time goes by< YES - it comes apart very easily. Almost too easily. Now I have to see if i can get it back together right to work! (I have replacement tanks - so the whole things isn't a wash.)
