Hey guys I got my rsst Monday I ordered it and asked if the shop coil drill my air hole out to 3/32 and build a one ohm coil. It showed up with a .9 ohm coil 5/6 wrap of 28 on stainless steel mesh, I have a 20 amp samsung battery as well. The battery was at about 4v but not fully charged when I go the rsst. I juiced it up and was getting some good clouds ( for me ) I charged my battery today and after it was done charging I keep getting 2 hot spots right before the coil like right after each screw. I didn't touch anything just charged the battery. Any idea what is causing this?

hot spots or hot spots because it's dry? I would just move the coils around slightly until the 'hot spots' are gone.
Pics go a long way when asking for help in situations like this. It seems it isn't wicking properly. Your liquid isn't getting to the coil efficiently. I had a similar problem with the mesh setup on my RSST so I switched to SS rope with the top wrapped in mesh. No more wicking problems. I would also question the build they setup for you as well. In my setup I am using 3/32" SS rope with a 4/3 wrap and am @ 1Ω... What diameter did they roll your mesh to? It must be a pretty small diameter to be subΩ... Take some pics and post them so we can have a look at it and possible diagnose it better...

I decided the coil was toast because I didn't want to mess with it. Grabbed my 28a wire and a small metric machine screw and wrapped a coil. I'm pretty terrible at wrapping coils but I think I'm finally getting the of this. Came out to a perfect 1 ohm did a 4/3
Wrap around the screw then put the screw in the wick and to wire it up straight back the screw out and it's good. Just waiting on my cotton to dry from boiling ill post back

You don't need a hosting app to upload pics here... When you click on the insert image it gives you a choice of where to get the pic from. Just click from computer and select file and go from there...
As to your setup, is your wick rolled solid or like a straw? Solid wicks much better that the straw roll. You should be able to wrap the coil with the mesh in place on the tank. It was the rolled like a straw yes, I've watched countless videos on how to build this thing I completely understand how to do everything. I get it wrapped put the coil on, check with meter, test fire and it heats evenly from the center of the coil. Once I put my wick in there's all kinda of hot spots. I just tried cotton to and didn't work. I'm going to try the other roll of mesh I have and wrap the coil with the mesh in the tank. Can i upload pics like that from mobile?
That is why the coil should be wrapped with the mesh in the tank already. That way you get the coil wrapped tighter to the mesh and there is less of a chance for hot spots to occur. Did you also fold a flap on you mesh? PBusardo breaks it down the easiest of any video I've seen out there. He had it built and ready to go in just a few minutes... I use his methid for my RSST as well as my Ikarus Hybrid... Foolproof... It also takes a lot of patience the first few times you build also...
I ordered 1 pre rolled wick and 1 already in the tank. I just tried the mesh in the tank method, coil looks good ended up being .7 the coil looks fine but again hot spots and tastes like crap. I'm getting frustrated with this and I only have like 6 inches of wire left
You might be pulling the coil too tight. It doesn't need a death grip on the coil, just snug enough to be in contact with the wick all the way around. If it's so tight that you can't budge the coils to even it out, it's too tight.
The only way I can get even coils is to pull it tight. If I don't it's all wavy.

Thanks for the pic.... Your mesh and top coil could be pulled a little closer to the +post. That is where most people have the worst hot spot. Remember the coil must make contact with the mesh on all wraps. I can't tell from the pic, and asked earlier, but did you make a fold on one edge of the mesh that winds up on the last wrap of the mesh? If that edge isn't folded, all the little frays of the mesh will cause hot spots.
No fold, I'll try both of those things when I get home from work later. I left it at home I didn't want to keep messing with it. Thanks I'll post back with results

That was one of the biggest problems I had when starting out with mesh wicks, those stupid frays. The way I was taught at a local shop (before doing research online) was to just roll it up. I don't know how, but the girl at the shop could just roll it and not have any issues. She even built mine, and it worked just fine for weeks. Once I learned to do the fold, the hotspots went away.

Thanks a lot guys I ended up wrapping my coil with the positive post out that was the only way I could get a tight enough wrap. This coil I built was literally the last 2 inches of wire I had, I have 50ft on the way. Came out to .7ohm the fold got rid of my hotspots. I still had a couple here and there but i fixed them. I'm vaping 6mg 50/50 I'm Guna have to drop to 0!
