Need some help understanding resistance in TC mode. I've been vaping in power mode forever with my sigelei 150w TC, but got a free TC coil with my new Kanger TopTank, so figured I would try it.

Bottom line is that I like it, but don't understand the whole locking resistance. I understand the importance of the resistance at room temperature, but wouldn't it actually be more accurate to not lock it and let the mod detect the resistance every time you fire the mode? Without locking the resistance, I was getting a very weak hit at pretty much any J level and temp. Then I let it cool back to room temperature and locked it. After locking it, I immediately started getting the performance I expected.

Can anyone explain this to me?

Secondly, how do I determine battery saftey in TC mode? Since I rarely vape over 30 or 40 Watts, I have some 20 amp AW batteries in my rotation along with my 30 amp VCT4's. How do I figure out how many amps I'm pulling in TC mode?

Locking the resistance is important because it sets the base value for the mod to calculate the coil temperature. If you leave it unlocked, the mod doesn't have a value to compare the current resistance reading to and you end up with weird results like weak vapes, power porpoising, quick temp-protect, etc.

Battery safety is no different in TC mode than it is in VV/VW modes. Most mods will let you set a wattage for running in TC and that will be the highest wattage applied just like in straight VW mode.
