Help with the Orchid, please

I went to my B&M today just in search of a new battery for my setup (a Vamo V5 and nautilus Mini). I walked out in love with my new Sir Lancelot mech mod and Orchid RTA. It hit like a champ and tasted amazing after it was built by a shop employee. It was even great for a few hours.

And then came the burnt taste. I haven't any idea what's going on with it, have never built my own coils, and don't even have wire or cotton or tools or ohm meters at my house. GRR! I am now back to my Vamo and Nauty.

Someone please teach me and help me to NOT feel like a complete idiot having wasted way more money than I expected today.....

Honestly? I can't figure out how to show you a picture of the build without losing all of this juice...... I TOLD you I was a complete newbie

I think it is not wicked right. If the juice doesn't flow to the coils properly, you are going to get dry hits. Did you try unscrewing the chimney a little..see if that feeds more juice to the wick?

You have a Vamo, so you already have an ohm-meter.

You first need to open the refill hole, stick a syringe in it, and suck out the juice-- doesn't need to go to waste.

Okay, I got the juice out, now I'm trying to take the frosted glass off to get a better picture of the coils, and it's not working Here's the photo I have currently....

It doesn't look too bad actually. Did you see him fire it and both coils fired at once? Dual coils need to be the same and fire together.

The Orchid is one of the more difficult ones to learn. I haven't tried one yet even though I have 6 other rta's. Watch youtube videos on wicking, and read the Orchid thread.

Here is info on it. It may have too much wick, though I have not built one myself this does give the same warnings as I showed you earlier...

Yes, I did! In fact, one was a tiny bit slower so he adjusted it and then they were perfect. It LOOKS good, but even dry firing it, it smells burnt now.

The one coil does look like it's possibly getting hotter than the other. See the darker area on the wick. Honestly I would pull it out, learn how to do it yourself and that is it. Like I told you in the pms, this is exactly how I started, isn't it RN? Tell her...lol I wound up sending my kayfun to roxynoodle to play with I was so intimidated at first.

Yeah, if it matters at all, I can tell that one side of cotton is darker than the other. I assume that DOES matter.

I do know its picky on the wicking. When the juice channels are blocked by too much wick, it dry hits. Too little wick and it will loose all the e liquid. And I think the chimney is one piece? That means you have to get the wick in the right place before screwing on the chimney.

Your coils are probably fine, but I think you need to rewick.

And here I sit with no wicking material. Grrrrr.... And, no, that's not what I'm saying in my head, just keeping it PG for the parrot's sake.

Well, you are in for a learning curve

Get wicking material. Watch videos. Pull out old wick, dry burn coils. Rewick. Prime wicks. Put it back together and refill. Hope you did it on the first try
