Hey guys - I am rocking some new hardware finally! I bought two Tobh atties in stainless. I drilled out both. One of them I expanded the existing holes and kept it at that, and the other I expanding existing holes and added another above. Rocking these things with 30 amp batteries, 24 gauge wire, and a metal chuff cap.

My first build on the atty with the extra holes was dual nano coils on cotton clouds. Haven't messed with nanos much, but I was impressed. Using 24 gauge and wrapping around a paper clip, I got an overall resistance of .17. They fired up hot and put out some gooooood vapor. The flavor was decent - I am not sure if this is the build, or the atty having so much extra air. After heavy vaping for about five minutes, the atty got too hot to touch. Don't worry, battery and switch are cold, just the atty and upper portion of the tube. Is this normal? Does it need more air? I don't want to lose flavor by adding more holes, since this one is already muted enough. I did notice this build was a juice hog, but I think the cotton cloud was not feeding properly.

Question about cotton clouds: How thick should the cotton typically be, and how much contact do my coils need to make with them (meaning do they just hover on the top, or should the coil be pretty immersed in cotton?)...Cotton density has always been a tough spot for me, so I am trying to figure cotton clouds out. Any tips on them or even on nano coils would be greatly appreciated!

Edit: If anyone has any good 24 gauge builds for the Tobh, I'm looking for ideas! And please know that I use an ohm reader, calculator, and I use proper batteries.

The top of your tube heating up after vaping heavily at super sub ohms is normal. Just be aware of it and stop when it gets quite noticeable so it can cool off. If you want clouds on nanos, I say do a dragon coil instead of cotton clouds.
The pics I've seen of cotton clouds usually have them floating just barely (maybe 1mm or so) above the cloud, but I've never built one myself. For clouds, you definitely don't want cotton touching the outside of your coils, it suffocates the air flow and cuts into vapor production. For flavor though, I think having the coils just rest right on top, not buried just touching the clouds would bump up the flavor a bit by allowing more efficient access to the juice. This will probably also increase juice consumption though.

I was way off! I tried burying them, and resting them (sort-of) right on top. I did get great clouds though. Thanks for the info!

No problem. I've been at this for almost a year and a half and I'm still learning. If you get into it, and it seems you are, you'll be getting answers to questions you didn't even know you had soon enough. lol

I hear you on that. I'm getting good at building - Throwing together some good sub-ohm dual coils is no longer a chore, it is just a couple of minutes and some wire. Now that I have a foundation, I'm starting to get into the crazier, more creative builds that aren't good for beginners....Endless fun.

Also with low ohm builds you will sacrifice flavor. Especially with high VG juices. I'd rather just build mine between .5 and .8. That way it's not too hot and the flavor is great.

Not in my experience. I have run some pretty low builds and got great flavor and vapor. It just depends on the atty and the build.
