This will be my first attempt at making my own e-liquid. I'm a boring girl and have no desire to play around with a bunch of flavors. I'm only interested in achieving one perfect, sweet, ice menthol flavor...lol.

I've read until my eyes have crossed, but I still can't seem to fit all of the information together into a comprehensible working knowledge. At this point, I have decided to just order the stuff I will need and figure it out one step at a time. (Hopefully some of you experienced chemists will be willing to help me along by sharing your knowledge.) So... I ran across ams30gts's thread on making a sweet ice menthol that looks good. That recipe called for:

50/50 PG/VG
6mg Nic
6% Menthol
2% Sweetener
1% Koolada

Questions:

1. This recipe calls for using the menthol crystals. Wizard Labs is out of the crystals, but does have Menthol Liquid 10% Solution PG (WL). Can I substitute this for the crystals?

2. The above recipe uses 6mg Nic. I want a final result of an 18 mg vape. Does this mean I should use a n 18mg nicotine solution? I'm very confused on this issue.

3. Finally, my shopping card at WL contains the following:

18mg Nicotine solution - 250ml
Propylene Glycol - 250ml

Vegetable Glycerin - 250ml
Menthol Liquid 10% Solution PG (WL)
Koolada 10% PG Flavor (TFA)
Various pipettes/bottles

I already have SweetzFree because it is the only kind of sweetener I use in my food.

Will I need anything else to create my dream sweet menthol e-liquid?

Thanks so much for any help!
El

If you haven't already, download the "e juice me up" ejuice calculator. Read the tutorials and ask some questions if you have any. You can make any strength you want but you need a higher nicotine solution than 18 mg/ml if that is your target. If you are purchasing extra pg and vg then the calculator will tell you how much to add of each to achieve your desired nic strength and pg/vg final ratio.
I would suggest at least 24 mg/ml for starters (I buy 100 mg/ml). That gives you leeway to get to 18 mg/ml.
Also order a couple 1ml and 10 mil syringes(counting drops is no fun as each dispenser gives different sized drops).

When you get your syringes, cover the numbers in clear packing tape so the numbers don't rub off.

Might want to order some extra bottles also.

For instance ,the calculator tells me to make 10 milli-liters with the above percentages using 24mg/ml 50/50 pg/vg nic base solution:

7.5 mil nic base solution
0.65 mil plain pg
0.95 mil plain vg
0.6 mil menthol
0.2 mil koolada
0.1 mil sweetener

since the flavorings are pg based, they are factored into your final desired pg/vg ratio. Any question. That calculator is critical to diy safety and success. You may want to throw a couple mint flavorings in the WL cart for variety. Peppermint, wintergreen, whatever.

Yea, I guess you could call it a flavor. I guess I didn't think of it that way.

It seems like a pretty simple recipe really. I would make a small amount, like 5 ml (depending on how hard the calculations are) let it sit a couple days and test it. Make sure to write it down exactly if you find it's what you like. Careful not to add to much sweetener at first.

If you have any questions, just ask. The members in the DIY section are great at this. I'm not so great, but I try.

I have never used the menthol crystals, but many people do. I use menthol liquid and koolada.

I feel the pg gives that taste. Of course you may feel differently. Also ,yes list the ingredients as flavors and input the percentage of the recipe and the totals for each needed show up at the bottom.

ETA: the sweetener is inputted as a flavor. Everything added, including water acts as a diluent to the initial nicotine base . So, if you start with 18 mg/ml nicotine base and add 10% flavorings , your maximum final nic content is 18-1.8 (or 10%)= 16.2 mg/ml. Not a huge difference but still not what you're after. What if you find you would like to tweak your recipe and add a higher flavoring %. Lower nicotine level still.

Don't be fearful though. Any questions can be answered by the fine, helpful folks on ECF. Don't hesitate to ask whatever question you have as many times or as many ways as it takes until you feel confident .
As you gain experience, your confidence will grow.
