I am new to vaping.. I have an iTaste MVP with a Kangertech ProTank

My first 10-15 drags on a new wick are perfect, full of flavor. After that though, it just goes downhill from there. Constantly getting a metallic and/or burnt taste. What the heck is going on?

Using PG liquid, MVP set to 3.5 - 3.8, I've tried 1.5, 2.2 and 2.5 wicks... same results everytime.

I'm about to ditch this setup completely... but I love the clouds the protank produces... ughhhh frustrated.

Don't use the Protank.

Pbusardo recently stated that the Protank 2 performed better than the Protank 1. There is also the Davide and the Puritank, although they basically use the same set-up.

You might wish to try the Innokin iclear16 or iclear30, or the Viva Nova.

Then there are the rba (rebuildable tank systems) like the Aga-t, RSST, DID, etc.

how new to vapeing and how long have you smoked and been off analogs. I was heavy smoker and im the same but the miss wasnt and she doesnt get this probelm like I do. im putting it down to my taste buds and been so used to analogs why my flavour tastes so stange and it seems fine to her. you might be the same or maybe need a wick removed..

edit: the iclear 16 has 4 wicks and the iclear30 has 8 so might not help, maybe a carto tank would help.

Do you chain vape?
Are you letting the coil head cool back down?
You have to figure out what it is actually doing.

Sounds like it may be slow wicking and you start loosing e-liquid at the coil. This increases heat and gives off a not so good taste.

Are you saying you Vape 100% PG? Have to say, that is a bit harsh in itself. Most basic mixes are 80/20.

There are a few things you can try. Remove one of the flavor wicks as mentioned above. Or, if that produces gurgling, you could break the wick down into separate strands and just remove a part of one of the wicks.

You could give a gentle blow on the mouthpiece after 5 or so vapes. You should see an air bubble float out of the wick hole, indicating that some juice was forced into the atomizer region. I occasionally have a new wick that has to be primed like this at first, but then it seems to break in, and not need this anymore.

You could fill your tank less full, like maybe 3/4 or 1/2 full for a few tanks. This affects the pressure in the tank and seems to wick more juice into the atomizer. People often find that they get gurgling when the tank is too empty, but you might could try this for a few tanks and see if your wick gets broken in.

I don't know by what mechanisms the wicks get broken in, but somehow it works. If they start out not wicking well, limping by with band-aids for a tank or so seems to get them working right.

I would go with the Kanger EVOD tank with either a 1.8 or 2.4ohm Atomizer and use 50pg/50vg juice. Using all PG will burn an atomizer quick. I use the EVOD with a 1.8ohm atomizer on my Evic. I set the Evic at either 4.0VV or 7.0 watts and never have a problem.

I too have heard a lot of people having problems with the Protank 2s. I am considering my first protank. but not protank 2.
