Hi everyone,
I'm new to forums (I've read plenty but never posted on one) and am here for some help. I've been vaping a few years now (about 3) and started off with V2. Last year I switched over to Volcano and got a Lavatube 2.0. Everything was cool but then I got tired of how terrible their consistency was with the cartomizer quality. Fast forward, I bought a Kangertech Protank 3 about 3 months ago and have had nothing but issues with it. The long stem coils never work for me, they always leak and give me the gurgles and I haven't been able to find a fix. 2 Weeks ago I went to my shop and they said the short stem coils are now out of production (just my luck e_e) so I took to the internet and decided I would try to rebuild my short stem ones since I know they work. I picked up some 28 AWG kanthal resistance wire and a bag of organic cotton balls. I built like 8 coils and my LavaTube just kept telling me that it was Low Ohms. most of the coils were around 1.0-1.3 ohms (I did get a couple .3 and .8 ohm coils). Anyway, my question is what do you recommend as far as rebuilding protank 3 coils with at least 1.8-2.3 ohms of resistance? Do I need a different wire gauge? I did between 6 and 8 wraps as that's all that I could do such that the coils wouldn't touch the sides of the device and give me a short. Anyways, thanks for you help in advance. If there's anything I didn't mention that would be helpful to know, please let me know. Looking forward to hearing your knowledge.

I always did 7 wraps of 30g on a 3/32 drill bit. Vap came out to be about 1.5 if I recall correctly. Then I used organic cotton. I would use a flavor wick on top to help with gurgling a little bit. But you have to be careful, too much cotton and you burn the insulator, too, little you flood or gurgle. It's a fine balance you learn just by experimenting a little.

Nice thing about the PT3's is you don't waste a lot of juice as you learn what works best and works best for you.

If you are getting gurgles, maybe you have a small space between the atomizer and the center tube.
Try an extra silicone seal topcap

Use 32 or 30 gauge kanthal in the protank coils.
