Well, knowing how much you'd like to keep her, do try all you can. If Zylkene should fail, the vet may be able to offer help. Even a sizeable indoor kennel type cage to at least keep her away from annoying guests until you find a solution?
Hope you find a way Sloth :)

kennel wouldn't work cause when shes inside unless i let her out the only time she'd actually bother guests is if they're in the great room (my apartment is in the same building as the common living room...just back behind the public space) but she loves to go out so i let her then she wont come in for days sometimes weeks no matter what. even left her window open the other night in 20 degree weather precisely because i didnt want her out in the cold - that's cold for a southern cat you know! but did she come in? nope :( screamed all night though

but also i let her out because my sanity seriously cannot take it after a day or 2 of her screaming in my house...LOL

ive been doing some reading on zylkene though...it holds promise pictor thank you so much for telling me about it :)

aww..thanks dogwog :) i know it seems like i just flipped but i didn't - i just truly can't stand the position they're coming from and them thinking it's cool to joke around like that. me-the person not the sloth-has no respect for that. and i'll tell them off even at the risk of NT fams/NT itself being upset with me for it.

you rock dogwog i'll see you on other threads <3

ive been doing some reading on zylkene though...it holds promise pictor thank you so much for telling me about it :)

Sloth - I was checking on Zylkene too and it looks to be much more prevalent in the UK. Amazon does carry it though. I'm not sure it will be easy to find it locally. Cats up to 11 lbs get the 75 mg. Hope you can give it a try and it works.

Just hope you find a solution. I do know it helps in many situations and is used for cats, dogs & horses.
My friend looked after a small dog for someone on holiday and it ran berserk through the house for two days before she gave it some Zylkene. First dose worked. It won't be so for every situation, but it's a non aggressive substance, and worth at least a try.
If she started this suddenly she may need checking out by the vet if you can't think of anything - sounds a bit like a 'habit' or attentions seeking, but you can never tell. May be a bit like our dog ..starts barking and seems unable to stop unless put in a quiet room for a few minutes! They're all different.

Our dog had been on prescribed ACP sedative for groomer day, but when she had seizures (not caused by the ACP) the vet stopped her having it. There'll be other things to try now from vets I think.

Yes, you're right - there's always a reason, but not always easy to work out what.

It's a good start because it's so safe to use. I always buy ours through an online supplier, and yes, Amazon does sell it ...was the only US source I know of to check properly from here.

You're right, Pictor. It isn't always easy to figure out what's up.
That's why I admire vets so much ...not as easy as being a doctor where the patient can answer questions usually! Still, vets don't always have the answers either!

I think my first thing would be to try Zylkene, and if nothing improved at all in a week, I'd see the vet for a check over & advice.
Could be vice versa though because some vets do prescribe/sell Zylkene too. Depends if they're purely drug motivated or go with over the counter fixes too. Ours does, but it costs more than from an online pet store.

One of my chihuahua's is a little crazy. I ordered some Zylkene after your recommendation. Today I was able to trim her nails, by myself and not get bit! Usually it's a two person job and she bites me at least once. She's still crazy but it's buried a little deeper thanks to your wonderful recommendation.

Brilliant! So glad to hear that :thumb:
Who knows, could be a course of it gradually trailed off to one or two per week and then eventually none may just permanently calm her?
You read how it works? Makes sense to me, and it's safe. So glad you got a good result already :)

The best doctor in the world is the veterinarian. He can't ask his patients what is the matter-he's got to just know.

That sign hung in the office of one of the best vets I have ever been too. Luckily when he retired another great one took up his practice.
